Dyno Day at Curry's for NSX, RX-7 and RX-8's

Saturday April 17 8:30am- 2pm

Curry's Automotive in Dulles, VA will sponsor a Dyno Day open to all NSX's, RX-7's and RX-8's. Curry's Mustang Dynamometer will accurately reveal how much rear wheel horsepower you're putting out. Former Acura Master Tech Dan Howell will be on hand to run the dyno and offer advice on getting more
horsepower from your car. The cost will be $50 (discount!) for three runs. Those who pre-pay will be dyno'd first. Curry's will provide food and drink. Feel free to attend even if you choose not to dyno your car. Details and directions are at www.currysauto.com Also- email [email protected] to register and pre-pay.

NOTE: Curry's has three locations. Dyno Day will be held at their Sterling location.

POST UP on the SOUTHEAST forum thread if you can attend !!

It will be smaller this year- only NSX's and RX-7 and -8's. (and David Hwang's M5!) Everyone should be able to get their car done by noon-1pm (first RESERVED= first dyno'd)

I bit the bullet and registered. Bill and Howard were kind enough to let a "foreigner" into the party.

It will be interesting to see what this heavy car can put out!

Thanks,
David

I want to attend the event...but realistically, what would be the disadvantage of not-preregistering ? Is the list of cars Dynoing really THAT huge ?

...I don't want to pre-register as I can't predict my schedule three saturday's from now, and i wouldn't want to take my NSX out for a dyno day in thunderstorms (Being it IS april, could be a possibility) But if one has a fair shot of just "showing up" for this event and getting off a $50 dyno session then there's a great chance I (and several others) will show*

I think Curry's has 8-10 so far. More will be added next week. Those who pre-register first get to dyno first. I also think there will be a decent amount of "walk-ons" (drive-ons?) and "spectators" there (like me). So bring your NSX (or Chevette) and we can shoot the bull.

Spectating

I'm trying my best to make it, (depends on the CEO :) ). I'm a newbee so I can't handle what the car can do now let alone ask for MORE POWER! :D . BTW I've never seen another NSX other than mine so that alone will be a novelty for me. I bought mine having never seen or driven one before.

No NSX (yet) - but I'll be there as a

spectator. Look forward to meeting some of the local NSX folks. Had the privilege of spending some time with DCNSX and he's a great guy, so it should be a fun time...

I'll be in a heavily mod'd SAAB. The one with the funny red stripes...

Great work with the pics and great meeting you "Inexcess" !! :D :D ...I didn't even realize you were taking them, scarey..lol (good shots ;) ) Oh yeah, and *BEAUTIFUL* 2000 NSX you have there...that metallic silver w/ the NSX-R shifter & Tubi exhaust really set it off :)

...and nice meeting you and your friend-(msgott) "DCNSX"! ...keep me posted on meets, get togethers or frankly anything else you care to hit me up about :) Good luck on monday at summit point* (I hope 2 see u guys there but we'll have to see :( ) ...and I'll e-mail you 2 get me on your mailing list ;)

It was a really nice drive through the VA countryside...beautiful weather...and great people all the way around. Many NSX'ers (or any performance auto heads) who didn't show up really missed out IMO.....oh well, there's always next time...lets set up something else soon guys !?! :)

PS: Dan at Curry's automotive in Dullus was VERY professional and helpful with virtually any question you may have for aftermarket tuning / parts on almost any sportcars out there. I would definitely refer F/I installs, suspension/brake work, or any type of consulting you may need from him...

Are both cars stock?

I have Tubi exhaust and Cantrell intake (with stock air filter). Probably only worth it for the audio.

I think nsxtacy's is stock all the way.

My car is completely stock...not even an airfilter upgrade ;) (Dan, the dyno tech mentioned how its the highest # he's seen on his shops dyno for a bone stock 3.0...most dyno approx. 15 rwhp less using the same dyno/tech/calibrations...so I was thoroughly happy :) )

On a "dyno-jet" it should see 250 RWHP.

I'm really sorry I missed out on the whole thing. I couldn't get anyone to watch the kids. By the time I got relieved and called over there, they were closing up shop.

Glad you guys had a great time. I will look forward to the next gathering.

And BTW, those are a few of the shiniest cars I've ever seen! Care to comment on your wash/wax products and techniques?

David

I dynoed 251hp on the same dyno with header/exhaust on my '94 so I say both of you are running well. Of course, different day, different tale on dynos since both of you are running a lot higher than normal stockers. Maybe it's all that carbon deposits that increased your compression? :D Just kidding.

Anyway, we zainoed the hell out of our cars and it's simply amazing...I'm sold on the product. I think here's what we did if I remember correctly.

1. Wash with Dawn thoroughly
2. Clay
3. Wash with Dawn again then dry.
4. Apply Z1. Let it dry but do not wipe.
5. Apply Z5. Once dry, wipe off
6. Apply Z6 and wipe
7. Apply Z5 again and wipe once dry.
8. Apply Z2 and wipe.

We were eating ribs and drinking bubble tea(courtesy of donwon) in between. :)
