Just wondering - can you upgrade the speakers/amps with aftermarket stuff and keep the original head unit and cd-changer?

I am by no means an audio expert but have seen many people do just that so they improve the components without changing the OEM looks or controls.

I think a search will reveal some examples of what you are looking for.

I think you can

A search will help you find the answer, but I think the stock head unit has RCA out jacks for adding an external amp.

The search revealed some amp info. This site it the greatest. But is there any NSXers who have done this out there? What speaker/amps did you install? Is this a chore I can do, or does it need to go to a GOOD installer?

lots of us have done it and there is tons of info in here already if you do a search. the stock head unit does not have RCA outs but it does have line level outs (since the amps are not in the headunit but at the speakers). if you've never done a stereo install yourself, i wouldn't start now. it's not hard to hook everything up but doing a proper wiring job is a real pain in the butt. you can choose from a bazillion components, but for a simple setup, i'd look at replacing the door speakers with a set of two way components, the stock sub with one of the premade fiberglass boxes and look at what others have used for subs with these boxes, and a 3 channel amp with a built in crossover.

ROBR,
Thank you for the info. I have been looking at some 2-ways. Is there a cool way to incldue the speaker enclosure inbetween the seats?\

there is no depth there due to a bump in the rear wall behind that panel. not really any reason to have anything there either that I can think of.
