does anyone use measurement tools like dial indicators or micrometer to determine runout and rotor thickness?

i'm interested in determining which rotor is warped and it's almost impossible to tell by visual inspection.

what's an affordable and relatively good quality dial indicator type tool?

thanks.

A dial indicator is the correct tool. However, what most people attribute to warped rotors is more often not that at all, but rather pad material buildup and hot spots. You might do well to get a can of brake clean spray and some 200 grit emery cloth, then spin the rotors manually and attempt to remove any deposits. If that seems to make a difference but you want to do it right, remove the rotors and find a brake shop that understands the concept of a minimal clean up cut and have them resurfaced.
