Is there any way to get a deeper more throaty sound by modifying the stock exhaust? I dont want to put on an aftermarket one right now but stock is too quiet. I am not looking to make it extremely loud, just a little more aggressive sounding than stock.

Thanks!

If your car is a 97 or older removing the cats and using "test pipes" often triggers a check engine light.I have been lucky in the past on my 96,ie no lights, but I have gone through O2 sensors more frequently(not sure if they are related)Please do a serch about the pros and cons of removing cats, well discussed.

doh..nevermind I can't read.

the Primary O2 is before the cat though...shouldn't affect it's longevity I wouldn't think.

How is the CEL triggered? Is there a second O2?

There is another o2 bolt in the cat which must be placed in the test pipe itself. The other is in the header.

If you want a slightly louder sound, I guess the Cantrell AIS and a 3 stage foam filter will give you a nice growl and swooshing sound when you apply throttle. It is a refine sound when you drive with your windows down.

I was driving around with that setup and it is louder than a stock setup.

Please don't get into how well foam filters work comparing with OEM.

If the cats are removed, will the car still pass emission tests?
Also, how does it affect performance?

really nice performance gains because there is no more restriction going through all the screens. DOwnside is you probably won't pass emissions. You'll have to buy it or put the stock ones back on to pass.

Sorry to rain on your parade again, but this is not the case in the NSX. Very little hp gains with cat removal in this car. You probably will pass emissions as this car tends to run lower emissions than the "typical" car and sometimes gets punted due to being "too low".

OBDII in the NSX starts at year 1995, so any car before then will only have O2 sensors pre cats.
