Oil Pan Question

Performed my first oil change a few days ago and noticed that the bottom of the oil pan is not completely flat but a bit concave instead. There are no marks on the bottom of the pan indicating it was struck with anything or bottomed out. Is this normal? Should the bottom be flat?

As long as the concave is minor I would not worry about it. I do have some pictures of my original oil pan and it looks nice and flat.
I would say as long as the deflection is less than 1/8 inch it's fine.

I was under my car a couple weeks ago and recall the oil pan being dead flat, in fact I seem to remember some structural ribs built into it that would probably increase the rigidity -- however I figured I wouldn't open my mouth and prove I'm an idiot until I'd had a chance to check it. Still haven't gone back under the car, but that's my 2c.

Heres what a new one looks like.
