Front Spoiler 'scraped' again...DAMN !

I have a 1995 NSX-T with 18,000 miles on it and is kept in near mint condition. Never gets rained on and is pampered.

BUT it seems like every time I take it out, the 'bottom' of the spoiler gets scraped a little. Does anyone else have this problem?
I even drive slow...probably much slower than most people, and it still scrapes 'once' in a while. It doesn't show looking straight on to it, but you can 'feel' it underneath. I'm a perfectionist with this car, and I sure hate 'that scraping feeling.' :)

Does this happen to anyone out there??

Thanks.

How are you scraping it? Speed bumbs, curbs? When pulling up to a curb, just don't get anywhere near it.

Yeah, seriously. You either have a very steep driveway or you're pulling up way too close to curbs. I never scrape my front spoiler except when I don't angle enough out of steep driveways or lose my mind and pull too far forward in a parking spot.

You've gotta angle out of steep driveways (or pick different exits) and not pull forward. The NSX is not a long car, you can afford to sit a foot short of the curb in a parking stall, and the bozo with the supersize SUV in the compact stall will still stick out way further than you.

This first guy hit it on the head. I have a steep driveway and have to find another way to angle it out.

Thanks for the advice. These things are about $90 each !

I see. What I do is back in to my driveway (very steep) at a sharp angle and leave at the same angle. It never scrapes.

But if your going to scrape anywhere on the car, thats about the best place to scrape. That piece is easily replaceable.

Yea...

I replaced the one that was previously on this car. Man, the man that had it before me really did a job on this, even though the rest of the car is near mint condition.

13 bolts and an easy way to get under the car is all it takes. BUT it still makes me sick to spend around $80-$100 on this rubber piece when in reality it probably cost $9 to make it in Japan.

But, yea, I know....welcome to world of NSX.

Thanks for the comments.

If my memory is right they cost $105 shipped from Neillo with club discount.

I feel that is what they are there for. Even the Ferrari Enzo has a front chin spoiler that is meant to be replaced from scraping.

I scraped mine pretty bad the first day I had, -except- it wasn't the chin spoiler, (that was already taken off) it was the lower part of the front chin. Kinda got it not only on the bottom, it scratched about half inch up on the side as well. Nothing cracked, just needs to be sanded smooth and repainted. The effected area is about 5 inches by 3/4 inch. Since that day I've been a little more away of driveways and curbs etc. I can see why the previous owner took it off, (broke it and not replaced more likely) the orginaly spoiler.

Cost me HK$700 (US$90) to get a new one here in Hong Kong recently. I had mine painted body-colour. Luckily, I haven't scraped this new one yet, even though my car sits about an inch lower than stock.

Boy, that looks nice Lazarus. Think I'll just go ahead and keep mine black. Man, some of you folks paid 'out the wazoo' for this thing compared to what it runs here in the States.

Since I have my lip painted I expoxied a few pieces of clear 1/8" plexi glass strips where the lip is the lowest. From nearly all angles except from ground level or under the car you can't see the plastic strips but it does help keep the lip free from scratches as when I do happen to scrape it scrapes the plexi instead of the painted lip.
