Strange Smells that remind you of weird things

You know they say that smell is stored in memory longer than any other sense experience. We'll the strangest thing happend to me when I was driving home from work today. It was a nice 80 degrees today so I was crusin with the windows down and a diesal truck passes me on a turn as Im stopped. And the fumes from that truck instantly reminded me of the ice cream man. I instantly thought what the hell, why did that remind me of the ice cream man. Then I remembered the truck the ice cream man rolled into my neighborhood with was always a diesal and his serving window was right out the back next to the exhaust. So, somehow when I was 6 and waiting patiently in line for my bubble gum ice cream as the shmuck in the soda jerk hat poisoned my tiny lungs, I subliminally filed the smell of diesal exhaust fumes with my craving for ice cream. If thats not messed up I dunno what is. Anyone else relate a strange smell to something weird? Nothing dirty now .

a guy smoking a pipe reminds me of a candy shop... the smell of chlorine reminds me of the gym...dam.. there are too many to list lol

I was driving my car up from NY to Boston the other day with the windows down since it was relatively warm out. And suddenly I had the feeling of total happiness (not that i don't always when driving the nsx, but more so than usual) heh. Sounds weird, but when i thought about it the smell of the warm air on a spring day reminded me of summer vacation in college, driving home for the weekend on beautiful summer days when life was relatively care free... then i popped back into reality It's a strange feeling because, for a minute, you feel exacty as you did back at that time.

Here's a strange one, a hair conditioner i used this morning reminded me of when i was about 10 working on my R/C cars. It reminded me of the smell of the bearing oil i used to use... dunno if that's a good thing hehe.
