How hard would it be to put Carbon Fiber over Marga Hills Sideskirts?

Hi guys,

I have a set of genuine marga hills sidestep sideskirts. I was just going to paint them black and mount them to my car. However, I really like the look of carbon fiber. How hard would it be to add a layer of carbon fiber over the fiberglass part? I should warn everyone that I am not a DIY kind of person, and I generally make a mess of things I touch. Is CF hard to work with, and would it be hard to get a glossy result? Any links to how to work with CF would be greatly appreciated.

when you lay it over like that rather than use a mold you can mess it up fairly easily. If you don't use a fast kicking epoxy you could find the epoxy running/pooling and then have to prep it and clearcoat it to get an even finish. Plus dealing with the weave and getting it just right is a skill.

If you want a full CF replica you could send me the skirts, I can mold them and make a CF copy, then send you back the CF skirts with a fresh ultra-bling UV clear coat as well as the originals, then you can re-sell the orignals. PM me if you're interested, here's what some of my stuff looks like:

Do you have the wide front fenders as well? I would be interested in doing those for you too. Or did you modify the skirt to go with the stock fenders?

adding extra width over the top would cause fitment issues wouldn't it?

it's possible, one layer of CF is really thin if you vacuum bag it. But an 'overlay' would require wet layup overtop, which could easily create uneven epoxy pooling and possible fitment issues. Depends on how the skirt is mounted.
