OEM changer cartridge

I have looked through the FAQ as well as searched through the old posts but am a bit confused. Does anyone know if the OEM Acura CD changer from a '00 NSX is compatible with any of the alpine CD cartridges?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. If anyone could post a photo on this thread or send me a pic of the OEM cartridge to [email protected] it would help out a bunch.

Isn't it the same one that your Legends use? At least that is the case in my 92. Anyway, it is either the Alpine 4905 magazine for the older Alpine changers or the newer Alpine magazine for the CHA/CHM changers.

Perfect!

Thanks a bunch Chris! (BTW, this is Koji_H from LEGENDtuner)

Anyway the reason I was asking is that my '00 NSX-T w/ OEM changer is set to arrive in a matter of days (was placed on a transporter in Colorado almost 2 weeks ago). However one of my Legends (both with Alpine CHM-S620 changers) is likely to be sold before then. I was wondering if I should try to swap out the Alpine changer from the Legend I'm selling for the OEM changer in the NSX so that my extra cartridges would continue to be exchangeable between my remaining Legend and the NSX.

But since you think the OEM '00 changer uses the same cartridges as my CHM-620 I don't need to worry! (I spent hours last night searching the net for a good photo of the '00 Honda/Acura changer cartridge to no avail)

Thanks again!

Actually Koji, I believe the NSX still uses the older changers like the ones we had in the Legend. I can't be sure though. I think you better wait until it arrives first. The reason why I think it uses the older Legend changer (Only with NSX on it) is because of the changer bracket. Now, if they did indeed change the entire bracket to use the newer Alpine CHM/CHA changers then you you'd be okay. The NSX uses a special flip out changer bracket so if it does use the older style you would need to modify it to mount the newer changers to it.

Anyway, congratulations on the NSX purchase. I'm really glad you decided to get the NSX. Do you still have the G35 Coupe?

Upps... Sold the other Legend (with changer) today before checking the forums... It sold for $6400 (asking $6799) with brand new tires, aftermarket alarm, and CD changer. Alas. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed about the cartridge compatibility.

On a happier note I was told to expect the NSX tomorrow (saturday) around noon!

In other news I do still have the G35 coupe and enjoy every minute in it. It really is a great car. Surprisingly some of the interior pieces are wearing on it already such as the drivers door interior grab handle with its faux brushed aluminum finish. Other than that and a bit of loose interior weatherstripping around the sunroof no problems at all. It'll be interesting to compare the two at length (albeit they are in entirely different classes).

Chris, I have components of the custom subwoofer removed from the Legend I just sold including a 10 inch Soundstream reference sub and a Soundstream amp. Do you think they would be useable in the NSX? I'm afraid the 10 incher may be too big... I've read through the posts and am very tempted to tinker with some fiberglass.

Mystery solved... much to my dismay.

Just as an FYI for the future incase anyone is in the same predicament the NSX (up to '00 and perhaps beyond) uses the OLD style Alpine cartridges and NOT the cartridges for the CHM-S6XX series.

Oh well. I guess its back to swapping discs by hand.
