Im sure all NSXers have had these encounters...

Sitting at a red light, and a camero, vette, and usually some fool in a POS beater wants to race. Yesterday I was waiting for the light to turn green and some punk, in a Dodge ram no less, pulls up and wants to race. I decline. The light turns green and he floors it. At the next light he taunts and laughs and starts to power brake and spin his wheels. Dumbass! The light turns green and I take off, he still wants to race so he floors it again. This time the truck got away from him and he came so close to hitting me I wasnt too sure he didn't. I caught his ass in light speed and I was pissed. He turned into a grocery store and I followed him in. I asked him what the hell his problem was and he had nothing to say, granted I could see he was about to pee his pants, but still. Turns out he lives in that neighborhood and his father was waiting at one of the previous lights and saw me follow his son into the parking lot. As Im talking to the kid he gets this big smile and says, "here's my dad, talk to him". His dad didn't say a word to me but proceeded to tear his little butt up. Hopefully he learned a lesson from this.

now all you have to do is hope his dumb a%$ doesn't key your car next time he sees it parked nearby

Doesnt it just warm your heart that the future is in the hands of these youngsters?

At least the father showed some responsibility and took a piece out of juniors a$$. :D

horrible...the kid needs an ass whoopin is what he needs.

What ever happened to just giving someone props for having a nice car? I still do that, no matter what you drive. If I like it, i'm giving a nod, peace sign, thumbs up, whatever.

SIGH...i can just see the dumb kids look...when he's spinning tires...F'in tard.

Exactly, I think its Dodge marketing that is partially responsible for this behavior. The commercials themselves have a dodge truck pulling up to some dragster and racing. Although the kid should think for himself.........he's probably imitating what he saw on tv.

I don't even know if it's that. I tend to think that it's just what all the kids do these days. Steet racing has always been a part of a teenagers life, but it seems really silly to see a truck doing it. Every kid out there thinks their car is fast. Regardless of whether it is fast or not, you shoudln't be an idiot. Reckless driving endangers everyone else around you. I'd rather look lie a big wuss than a total retard revving my car everywhere I go.

Seems like the Dodge boys are trying to market their hemi trucks to compete idiots. I heard one of their commercials on the radio and at first I thought it was a joke.. maybe one of those "real american hero" bud commercials.

It was in fact real, the song was something like...

In-ti-mi-date.... In-ti-mi-date.... In-ti-mi-date.... blah blah blah

It was all about how you can intimidate others if you have their truck. I guess they think they know who they are marketing to. Actually my brother just bought a Dodge Ram 4x4, I'm gonna call him now and make fun of him:D

that's funny. My boss owns a dodge truck that he has done some work on. I have respect for what it can do. It has a lot of torque and HP, but it's NOT fast. Once he was following me in my S. I took a turn at a light at a VERY normal speed, he tried to follow suit, and all I see behind me is a truck about to fall over swerving to stay in control...I almost lost control of my car laughing so hard.

I'm from Texas and I absolutely hate trucks.
See them everywhere.

I think the reason most people buy them is because they're uncomfortable with themselves, their self image, and lack confidence.

They feel confident when they're so high up looking down on people in their big powerful vehicle but take them out of their and they become average all over again.

So many cocky rednecks always cutting me off just because they have a truck. And the damn teenagers with PCVs (... compensation vehicle) that have a lift or offroading package, yet live in the city and would never allow for their precious truck to get dirty or muddy. And those who do are usually too stupid to use it wisely - kind of like spinning your tires on the beach so girls will flash you on spring break, never realizing you may get stuck and laughed at by me! (see below)

And I don't know where people ever got the idea that trucks are fast* (ford Lightning & Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel excluded).
The Ram Hemi is over rated. It's just a 350 small block.
Thats no Hemi. Hemi = big block monster.

I had a young guy in a Dodge pickup ask if I wanted to trade the NSX for a lap around the block. Like the honor would have been mine. I told him it would make a great commercial for Dodge -- then declined.
Getting back to the post. The first week I had the NSX, a beater-Integra lit 'em up next to me at a light in Poughkeepsie. I was actually expecting some Acura brotherhood respect. Oh well. I let him think he was the man. We all know where the real respect lies.

There were some good engines made by chrysler in the 60's that were hemi's. Hemi stands for hemisherical combustion chamber. Overrated in my book, there were car companies I believe as early as 1920's using hemispherical chambers.

Trucks...SUV's....and I'm laughing every time I get gas. I see truck and SUV owners putting in over $70 in gas, just to come back in a couple of days to do it all over again, and I'm laughing. I truly hope the price of gas here in the U.S. eventually equals what the price of gas is in Europe (over $4 a gallon). Maybe we Americans will be a bit more responsible about the consumption of resources. Yep, I buy gas too, but I drive a Civic.

And don't give me "But the economy blah blah blah ". It was bound to happen one day. Might as well be now, and the faster we'll learn.

 It never fails! This is pretty common in the NSX. All I do is look at them with that look "you're an idiot!" Especially since most of the time it's in traffic. Such morons! I have MUCH MUCH more respect for a powerful/exotic/nicely modded car that waves hello at me unlike these fools.

just my 2 cents...

Dont get me wrong, I have respect for trucks or any nice well taken care of vehicle. Its just that it gets me, especially in the rain when Im driving safely and a huge truck hauls ass by me with no regard. Just because there so big they take way to many chances. But I get the "what do you have in that thing" or " They stopped makeing those huh" from the rednecks. Most guys who actually have a high HP car like Viper or an 06, will give me props and cruise along.

amen brother. I can not express how maddening it is when you are driving to the conditions, and a tard in a SUV or truck is driving like they are in....well, an NSX :D this is just as bad as a VERY stupid kid coming up to me in the same conditions, wanting ot race!!! I look at them with that, "Are you f***ing kidding me???" look. horrible... SIGH

Ive never really driven a truck in the rain but I know the wide tires on my NSX and my vette are not ideal for rain. I can only imagine how it is to maintain control of a 5000lbs truck at high speeds in the rain. I also hate it when the get right up on my a$$ and expect my to go faster. Usually Ill slow down a bit. :D :D :D

well, i know when I was driving a truck, the rear end is light (no weight reallY) so it likes to fishtail or hydroplane...at least that was my experience in my truck. Maybe it was tires, but maybe it's just the characteristics of a truck. I hate to think that people drive that way in rainy conditions. Especially when it just starts raining. People don't seem to understand that is the most dangerous time to drive wrecklessly.

How to react?

Last night I was driving on US 19, which is a four lane Blvd. Cruising just above the posted limit I look in my rear view mirror and see an Integra speeding up to catch me. The young punks get right up on my bumper, so close I could see the after market gauge on his windshield pillar. I decide to change lanes and they follow me, I change lanes again they continue to follow me, I slow to let them pass and they slow. They were so close, I could see the stupid looks on their faces.

Finally, I pulled of the road and let them go buy. I find my self caught between appreciating their excitement and getting pissed off at their ignorance. Our cars will surely provoke different reactions, some definitely worse than others.

I don't have these issues here in redneckville Louisiana, but I have had trucks rev their engines at me before.... now that is funny!

Agreed...I am glad that the father handled his kid as well. Most parents these days would have yelled at you for following him, but it sounds like this father at least had enough sense to realize his kid was an idiot. Did the kid lose his smirk when his dad layed into him?? My parents would have beat the heck out of me for that!!

His dad was like "what the f@$$@ are you doing? If you hit that car I'd be in deep SH#@. " Then he appolagized for his son and I left. Yeah, I would say the father did the right thing. The father was kinda redneckish as well though. :D :D

whenever im on 19, tampa, or east lake road, i get kids and adults alike reving and burning out trying to race me. when im at a light and this happens i take off and floor it up to about 5 over, and let them go as fast as they want. it gives us both kicks. it doesnt bother me, i take it as a compliment when people want to race, and unless there unsafe i have absolutely no problem with it.

BTW, i was in my lightning tonight (monday night) which vintage knows, that it was pouring on and off. well i take a left off a 2 lane road called keystone onto a 3 laner called east lake, and the left is at about a 65 degree angle, and even though it wasnt raining at the time the roads were wet. even with my sport tuned suspenion, and z rated tires i fish taled going moderately slow. so much torque and virtually no rear end weight is a pain in the ass. i was just thinking this would never happen in my nsx.

but i didnt drive it tonight cuz i just washed it, and didnt want to get it all dirty, so i guess i cant have everything. :p
