Any tricks of the trade to remove the pully from the alternator? I can't get the nut loose. And yes, I have already removed it from the car. I tried with it on but the pully just spun beneath the belt. Quick tips appreciated!:)

Must be an impact gun, one blast will do it:).

If you do not have one, just go to your local service station. The other choice would be the special offset box wrench. You must hold the alternator shaft from spinning with a socket using this method.

You could have loosened the nut with the alternator still installed since the belt would have held the pulley in place, right?

Doubtful, it will most likely slip:). That baby is pretty tight, 83 ft. lbs., so like a lug nut.
