Tein RE question ( Again )

Hi all, I have done the search an also look the online manual of the RE and RA suspension.

There's a post mentioning the RE's rideheight may be adjusted and not altering the suspension travel... but looks like the manual says it still adjusting utilizing the perches...

Say if the given suspension travel is mantained... I keep hearing it's a good thing, but for cars that would barely rubbed the inner fender in full lock, if you have the RE or other type that won't alter the suspension travel but lowering the car 2.5 inches... wouldn't the tires rub a lot???

Please someone explain to me... If you have a picture of the RA/RE comparison, it would be better.

I was going to go for the RA, but after I looked at the retail prices of them on the web, seems like $130 is not that much, but I get a lot more in tuning prossiblities on the RE...
 
thanks Chris, I know you are one of them swear by the RA, I've seen those post before.. ;)

The RE is using the inverted struct/shocks design, I rememeber the top of the line Subarus had such a design from Bilstein... what's good for the inverted design??
 
Chris, this is copy and paste from the Tein Web site on RE discription...

* Mono-tube design for maximum performance.
* Full-length adjustment and height adjustment for separate setting of the
height and spring preload.
* 16 levels of damping force adjustment (compression and rebound together).
* Inverted shock structure for more horizontal stability for strut suspension.
* Available for overhaul.

i believed it was meaning the reservoir is at the bottom while the valving is at the top of it instead of the conventional one with the valves at the bottom of the strut...
I just don't understand what it mean by Horizontal Stability...

hmmm, anyone else, or maybe RE owners out there had any idea??
 
I'm not sure what they are refering to by "inverted shock structure" however the term "inverted shock" or "inverted damper" usually refers to a shock or damper that is flipped upside down with the body of the shock towards the chassis mount and the piston traveling into the body of the shock with an upwards motion The RE for the NSX is a convential design with the damper body mounted on the suspension side of the assembly (see photos below):
