Seeking advice from the track gods: Just got a '95 NSX-T and am planning some track outings. Current 16/17 stock tires are about shot so in the meantime, I am wondering if I could put my S2000 stock wheels (already shod with Victoracers) onto the NSX. Any issues, known or suspected?

Thank you (and this wonderful thing called NSXPrime) in advance for your thoughts!

Mike

Some numbers:

91-93 NSX Wheel 205/50-15 6.5 +55 15.2 225/50-16 8.0 +60 18.9

These sizes are not recommended for the NSX. For one thing, it is extremely odd to run tires on an NSX that have a larger outer diameter in the front than in the rear. You will run into the following problems using those S2000 wheels/tires:

- Rubbing. The front tires will almost certainly rub.

- TCS. Maybe you turn it off on the track, but it will have problems when engaged.

And, unlike the stock '91-93 sizes, you probably won't be able to fit your track tires inside the car to take them to the track.

What about the center bore? Does the S2000 also have the different hole size front vs rear?

If the wheels fit that's one problem taken care of. I'm running Victoracer 225/45 17s on the front for competition which are the same diameter and same footprint as the 225/50 16. But I'm running 275s in the rear. The 225s will definately rub the inside rear of the wheel well. Or like my car, it might rub the body seam hidden under the plastic panel at the center rear of the well. (which I fixed by hammering the seam over a bit)

For most driving the rub isn't an issue because you so rarely turn the wheel to full lock. Not much call for parallel parking on a track. But the added rubber on the road is a big help.

I think if the wheels fit it's not a bad set-up as long as you dial in alignment, sways, and shocks with those wheels. But then again that might make your other 'street' wheels not perform that well.

Experimenting is half the fun!

Thanks for the advice guys...I've recently acquired some 91 NSX wheels and will get some dedicated track rubber in 15/16 sizes.
