Hi All:

I found this on my hard drive dated 10-15-1997.

Though you might like to read about the early days before the NSX club.
**************************
As I write this I am thinking back one week ago, I was at the top of the World Trade Center with part of a large group of people that, over the past year have become very close friends.

It all started for me in San Francisco with Harry Somerfield, Gary Berger, Bonez (sp?) and the "Northern" crew driving down Lombard St. in "The City". It spread South to Alex, Alan, Andy and crew with a great drive through Julian, then migrated back north to San Simeon for a North Meets South event along with Bill Muirhead, Steve Riter, Crazy Daniel, etc.

Then it went to New York in May to meet Don Gallo, Mohit, and (then Red) Jay (turned Blue). From there it went to Denver where DNF Dave, Gary Milgrom, Mr. and Mrs. go fast (Black NSX), and Dennis the track man from texas. Chocolate Chip Cookies will never be the same, and back to NoCal and Laguna where (new NSX), Nick Nickolas, and "Flip side".

Then came the NY Fall Classic where you could see a (flock, squadron, ???) any way, a bunch of NSXs (25) driving worse than the New York Cabbies right down town, Among them were Matt (the young 40 year old)Falk, Lud, D. Hwang, Howard (smoke it somewhere else) *****, and some guy calling himself Kaiser Roll. What an excellent event. And I got it all on tape.

My hat is off to Blue Jay (Listen up everybody) "Coach". Who else could get a police escort through New York just because he was late for an appointment with the Statten Island Ferry? Or line up 25 NSXs in front of the New York Stock Exchange, where a bomb sniffing dog checked out each car and personally wagged that they were clean. Even Ken Sax "Caboose" showed great Mettal when faced with the decision of running the red light or possibly being rear ended by the Mercury Grand Marquis "Slug" driven by Mrs. Woodwork who was "way into the ALB" after being told "Go, Go, Go" by yours truly because he didn't want to get too far behind to get good video.

This is just a few of the events going on all around the Country. Where will it all end? I gotta say that this is with out a doubt one of the best national organizations of all time and it just keeps geting better.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to every one who makes this group what it is. With out this group I would just be a clerk in a cubical writing reports to Japan and service bulletins to the dealer.

An Old Guy,

Great memories of the early days!Hope to see you at the glen in Oct.

I share the sentiment. I remember the days of the list started by David. I spent the whole day discussing the NSX with the old boys. No joke, Mark Johnson then was one of my buddies on the list too. I have made many friends across the country, learned that the best engine oil for the NSXs is the airplane oil;) , and fought against the intruders from the Supra land. It has been a fun ride!

I too remember the early days.....the list sure has evolved since then, and it is a new animal all together. Either way.....I told some of you that I would get an NSX eventually (I was driving my Integra GSR to NSXCA events back then), and it looks like all I buy are NSX's now!! LOL!! It has been great getting to know you, and anyone who wants to sell me a Sebring Silver/Ivory NSX to add to my collection.....well, I have been looking for one of those for about 6 years now. :D

It is good to see you here on Prime again Woodwork:D

Don't stay away so long!

Woodwork - We are all getting old!! I just realized that in a matter of months it will be a DECADE since David H. started the original NSX e-mail list in December 1994. I found it and joined in early 1995. Wow.

Ah yes, it's all very familiar... (I was recalling that first San Francisco event just a couple of weeks ago, when I happened to be driving down that very same part of Lombard Street.)

Don't forget NSXPO '97, which preceded that New York event.

Heck, I still remember the first NSX dealer event, in 1992...

Woodwork - great to hear from you! Sometimes I miss the EMail lists when that was the only way to stay in touch. It had kind of a campy feel to it and everyone knew who everyone was.

Not to mention having spell checker on every message!

Don't be a stranger - had a very nice visit with you during NSXpo98 and it has been a long strange trip indeed!

I remember fighting with Ken Sax a few times before becoming buddies; Chris Willson got his side mirror kicked off by some street loser; David Nguyen witnessed a horrible crash during a street racing event; Lud was still a snot-nose kid that was collecting data for the FAQ; Alex was still "knocking out" every patient's teeth; Andy the forever smart-ass; Gary Milgrom, Chris Wong, Michael Sand, Rommel Dizon, Miled, Mike Niday, Brian Chow, Ben Lin, Don Gallo, Bill Muirhead, David Hwang, Vytas, Gary Berger, Steve Werre, the Flying Dutchman Guus :( , Eddy Whitman, and many others. Almost forgot, do you guys remember that Brady Dorhman geek? I remember Woodwork teased him for having a tiny "equipment.":D
I get tears in my eyes thinking about having spent so much time of the last 8 years BSing with you guys. :)

When I moved up to Monterey in '95, I discovered the NSX mail list. There I was conversing with Harry Somerfied, Gary Berger, Brent Rambo (Bonez), Paul Mercer and a few others. I didn't own an NSX but enjoyed the conversations with all the list members. I knew I'd be getting an NSX and eventually meet all these people so I wanted to know them better. I believe Harry made the first move by saying that instead of yacking on the list, why don't we actually meet! The day was set and it happened in December 1995, Mountain View, CA. Our very first Northern California NSX meeting. I was there to see about seven NSXs just waiting for the day when I could own my own. In the couple years that followed, I attended all the meetings and drives. Brent Rambo was the first to trust me with his NSX by letting me drive it. It was the first time I drove an NSX and I thank him for it. After the drive, I was going through withdrawal symptoms like you wouldn't believe. The day arrived when I bought my very own NSX in July 1997.

I then attended the SoCal meetings where I met Alex Vizcarra, Steve Riter, Woodwork, Doug Hayashi, and many many others. I envisioned being in a car club but not a "club" like this! There is so much support and goodwill amongst our members. I've been helped out many times by our community and can't imagine if there would ever be such a car club like NSXCA. I'm happy to be a member of this community, something I'll cherish for a long time.

I joined the mailing list only in 1999 and it seems to me like yesterday.

And it is 5 years that already passed...

Actually I still read most of the emails but I rarely answer.:p

Wow, I still remember the days.

Remember:

The drafting stunts on our trip to Monterey?

Alex's frozen underwear?

The 4th of July beach parties?

Steve's flip side incedent?

Trip to Columbus?

How about Daniel S?

Much more.

KeNSaX, I see you're still the king of post. Amazing.

Lud, is there away I can change my screen name. I must be on drugs when I registered and chose this name. Can you help me get rid of my screenname/nightmare car?

BTW, I still show up on some SD NSX events. I also see Mark J and BZ regularly.

Still lurking around.

bump because I miss the old days and all the folks mentioned ...

Most of these folks have moved on. Harry is still around I think and still has his Sebring. He posts occasionally.

Just last month 5 of us "oldies" got together for dinner with the wives. Alex V, Goward, Doug H., Wayne M. and I. Woodwork was in town but could not join us. I believe Alex still has his GruppeM queen, Doug has his Flamemobile tucked away in storage and I still have my my 97. My son John who also joined the Club and Prime in 97 still has his 92.

sweetness..good to hear.

Ah, yes, the good old days!!
Nice to remember all the great get-togethers and all the guys and gals that made them possible...
And yes, I still have my '91 Sebring silver car.
Hello to you all!.
H-

There have been a lot of good people in the NSX community over the years. I still think about and miss Len3.8. Great guy.

Our local crew(MPLS) is all new save Ed K. I'm not as active with the local group or Prime, but still lurk/read randomly.

That being said, I've been meaning to create a build thread chronicling the history of my car (that I know of, including 2f2f) before me, and what's happened the last 18 years of ownership.
