1. why s the 97+ model so much quicker than the 91-96. 20hp difference right, and the 6 spd. is the main advantage from th 6spd because i would think a couple bolt ons and you could push the power output of the 3.2liter.

2. how late is too late to modify an nsx? considering i am dealing with a smaller budget than most if i purchase one it will most likely be high miles, like 70k or so. is that too many miles for things like headers exhaust, chips, and possibly even nos or a supercharger?

thanks to anyone who can answer for me. i appreciate it.

The 6 speed allows the engine to stay in VTEC range through the shifts, that means when you shift from 1st to 2nd you will lose less power, add the additonal HP to that and that makes a noticible performance difference. You are only talking a few 10ths of a second.

I don't think it is ever too late to modify an NSX, the car runs strong even with high miles as long as it is taken care of.

According to Bob Butler's calculations, the six speed alone - if installed in a '91 - would reduce the 0-60 times by 0.2 seconds, and the extra 20 hp would reduce 0-60 times by 0.4 seconds. Together they would drop 0-60 times from 5.3 to about 4.7 seconds. For an NSX-T, add another couple of tenths back for the additional weight.

If you are on a small budget, then you shouldn't do the mods. You may well find that the NSX is just fine as it is. Instead of spending anything on mods, spend a little extra to get a nicer and/or lower-mileage NSX. Save any other money you would be spending on mods and put it in the bank where you can get it if you need to replace the tires or replace a clutch or replace the tires or replace the A/C. Oh, and you might need it for tires.
