Best resource for finding NSX?

I can't seem to find the right car and I'm going through some very bad withdrawls. I've sold 2 of my cars in anticipation of buying my NSX, but now I can't seem to find one. It seems they are sold before I even get a chance to look at them. Anyone have any tips for finding a clean early model NSX? Or does anyone know of any silver or black 91/92's for sale in your area? I'm willing to travel to get my future car.
Thanks in advance

I found mine on autotrader.com

cars.com is another
yahoo.com sometimes has ok stuff.

Since you seem to be looking for that cream puff of a car, that has been meticulously maintained by an enthusiast, I think your best bets are the sites that cater to the NSX enthusiast:

http://www.nsxprime.com/market/nsxfs.htm
http://www.nsxsc.com/cgi-bin/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=NSX+-+For+Sale,+Cars+|AMP|+Parts&number=6&DaysPrune=30&LastLogin=
http://members.boardhost.com/nsx2/

You might also consider signing up for the NSX e-mail lists at

http://lists.nsxca.org/mailman/listinfo/

Look here: autotrader.com , cars.com , or
dupontregistry.com

Two years ago I found my 95 NSX-T w/ 2,800 miles on Autotrader. It was in NC, where the book prices were $5-6,000 lower than here in CA. I had it shipped inside a covered truck to CA after inspections by friends and Acura dealer in NC. My car is now worth about what I paid two years ago.

Moral of the story: if you find a primo car in BFE, you may get it for a deep discount compared with cars being sold in exotic sports car land (e.g. CA & FL).

You can do it. Best luck....

Don't give up. I was in the same boat you were in. I looked for 4 months (I know some have looked for YEARS). I was pretty frustrated and even considered buying a C5 or some other car. Don't do it. You won't be happy and you'd regret it. Stick with the plan, be patient, and it will soon come.

I also found mine on AutoTrader.com.

I found mine on Autotrader checked it everyday for eight months until I found my 91.

I have been in the market for a year now (first 6 months were learning period, and the past 6 months were some serious digging), and am still looking! It's been frustrating and painful. At one point, I told myself that I will just forget about it, and almost went on and bought Porsche 996.

Nevertheless, I know that my heart is after NSX. I am still in the market! Keep me posted please.

Obviously, with 100 NSX's on autotrader and more in the NSX-specific listing sources, there are plenty of NSX's for sale. Some are in great condition, and some aren't, of course.

It seems to me that those who search on and on for months looking for the "right" NSX must be looking for some combination of characteristics that is hard to find - whether it's a Midnight Pearl automatic, or a mint-condition NSX for under $30K, or a yellow NSX within 50 miles of home, or a nice 3.2-liter NSX for under $50K. For those whose search goes on for a long time, would you say this is accurate?

Thanks for all the replys. I've been searching Autotrader, cars.com, etc., and I just sind up for the list (thanks nsxtacy). I've also decided to expand my search to 93 and 94 higher milleage cars that are in the mid 30's, because it seems there are a lot of people looking for 91/92 nsx's but not many people looking in the 93/94 range. Plus if I could manage a 94 I could keep it stock and stay away from those early wheels. Nsxtacy, I don't think I'm being very picky, but I'm not going to buy a junk NSX just to own one, but it seems as the market starts to recover so does the demand for NSX's.
Thanks again for the responces.

Ken is right on this one. Most NSX buyers begin their searches with unrealistic goals and price expectations for the kind of car they want. I know that there are many of every NSX in the market and have personally seen some great cars come and go in the past few months just on the forums. (Ex. NSXOTIC's car) Also, in the past couple of months, prices for exotics/highline cars both wholesale and retail have continued to rebound. There were some great deals before and will always be some great deals, but I think most people should stop chasing the deal they think they lost that they heard about some time ago. It happens, but very rarely. I would think of it this way. You may pay a little extra for the car you want now, but you will have it now and have had it for a year or more. Is it worth the headaches and frustration for a couple of thousand dollars in savings? I also personally know many people that search forever for that right car at the right price and either end up raising their budgets or buying a car that isn't up to par, often without knowing and regretting it later. Remember, you get what you paid for. Any sports car purchase is not going to be a rational one, so if you find the right car for you, you should go for it. If it were a Toyota Camry, I would say to shop around as much as you want. You know why, because if the one you want is gone, I'm sure you can find another one just like it or better around the corner. When looking for particular NSX's, including some models of which were only produced in single digit numbers, you can't be too picky, especially when it comes to price. The NSX is a bargain in the sportscar/exotic world, but is not a economy vehicle and shouldn't be treated that way. Just my opinion because I see so many people post about how they can't find this NSX, or that one. When there are tons available. There are already dozens of "NSX Wanted" ads posted in the new NSXPrime Marketplace and there are hundreds of cars all over the internet for sale.

Sorry about the double post!

Well..., I am located in Boston, MA, and there aren't that many NSX around here. At the first 6 months, I looked for the ones in the vicinity of where I live, and they were all in bad condition.

After that, I realized that I should expand my horizon. However, the biggest difficulty is that I really don't get to see the car. Although I have received help from many of you guys, it's really hard to get to know the seller to see if he's lying or not. Pictures do not say much. Currently, I have eyed on this car, but it's located in Canada!!

I don't really care about the $$ issue. I will be keeping the car forever, and I just don't want to get a lemon... that's all..

Perhaps, I should move to Cali or Flr.

Hey buddy, hang in there. You'll find what you are looking for in time. I think a lot of people(including myself) were in the same boat as you. And when you get the right one, you wont' regret the time spent searching. As for location, it's pretty much impossible to find a particular NSX that you are looking for in your area. You should really see the car in person before you buy it...what's $200-300 for a ticket. Also, definitely get it inspected by Acura or similar capable mechanic. Good Luck!

Just curious, how are you describing "bad condition"? It can mean a lot of different things to different people. For some, "bad" is BAD, others "bad" is not so bad

As far as NSXs in other regions, don't be afraid to ask if someone on the forum can check out a car in another state for you and post a report.

I have seen some awesome reports posted by forum members. These reports were more thorough than I usually am with my own purchases!

Oh, please don't get me wrong. When someone like me say bad, it's pretty bad (since I probably have the minimum knowledge about NSX here).
The first car that I looked at had an odometer reading 35k. When I went to carfax check, the car had 85k miles on when it was last registered.
The second car had center console parts broken, and the right hand side window stopped when I tried to open.
The third one had slimy, sticky thing coming out of the exhaust, and the fourth one was owned by an owner who didn't even know how to open the hood - when the hood was opened, I couldn't believe what I saw.. dead rat.

Well.. these were all in Boston area. That's how I became a scary cat...

Yeah... then, the owner starts flossing (shooting everything on the window) right next to me while I testdrove.. I almost puked...

Where in Canada is the NSX you are looking at? I'm sure someone here would be willing to check it out for you. I used to hate the thought of our cars going to the States but I am over it. The US market has kept the values here high, which is bad if you are buying.
Forgot to add trader.ca and canadatrader.com are good sites.

MAN! That IS bad. Jeez... Odo rollback, beat up interiors, bizarre substances leaking from the pipes, dead rats... no wonder you've gotten discouraged!

You should at least come down to the NY area (not too far either). There are usually a few fairly clean cars on the market between NY, NJ and CT...

there's a dealer in CT that claims to have the largest NSX inventory in the country. I don't recall its name but they always have cars for sale in the Dupont Registry. Try
Hemmings as well. Good luck.

Greenwich Acura. Their website currently lists 10 NSX's, including a 2001 COUPE and a Zanardi.

No offense to people who reside in FL. But I would never buy a car in FL. Title washing comes to mind.

Why does everyone believe this? Where is the proof? I've never heard of this except on this board. Anyone with a professional opinion? Todd? And BTW, title washing used to happen a lot everywhere, not just Florida. Newer legislation has pretty much eliminated the process. If you are worried about salvaged and wrecked vehicles, a good inspection can rule those out.

Thanks for your encouragement guys!
