Does anyone know what aftermarket changer works on a 92 NSX stock radio? If so what parts are needed and how does it work? (As good or better than sock?)
I've got an Alpine changer(Ai-net). It should work the same as a non Ai-net Alpine changer, except that it needs an extra plug adapter.
The new Alpine changers are faster and better than the OEM units.
I put mine in the glove box of my '92. I've never understood why car manufacturers put changers in the trunk. In order to change the cd you have to go back there, such a drag IMO.
I don't recall who makes it, but if you buy an Ai-net cd changer then I have an extra adapter than I can sell to you.
You can get the adapters at most stereo shops, it's a simple din-plug adapter for Hondas/Acuras that usually run around $10 bucks or so.
I should have mentioned earlier, but if you buy a non Ai-net cd changer you only need 1 adapter. If you buy(or have) an Ai-net cd changer then you'll need 2 adapters.
I installed the Alpine CHMS620 with the PIE (Precision Interface Electronics -818-678-3690) Acura/Honda to Alpine CD Changer adapter cable Part#ACU/HON-ALP. This is the only extra cable you need (my car is a '99).
I put in an (Alpine) CHM-S630 off eBay. It worked fine and cost +-$200. However the mounting bracket does not fit and needs to be modified. It was a simple matter of turning the mounting plate around and drilling new holes (very easy). The CHM-630 is smaller.
