Okay, with all the talk/discussion/about horsepower, torque, different forced induction systems, dyno charts. etc., I gotta throw my two cents in.

My opinion? The only thing that matters is lap times collected by electronic devices such as an AMB transponder or Hot Lap Timer. Everything else is secondary. I put up a collection of lap times of west coast tracks for Honda powered cars. The Viper drivers have Viper Days events where they strap transponders on to see what car/driver combo is the fastest. The S2000 drivers on the west coast have the S2000 Challenge where they strap on transponders to see what car/driver combo runs the fastest laps. As a result of this, the Viper guys are uhh…extremely fast, and the S2000 drivers are getting pretty damn fast for their class of car. Both groups are getting feedback as to what is working and what is not working on their car to go-faster.

Unfortunately, we do not have an NSX Challenge series, as very few NSX show up at events where there is AMB transponders. Wurth Motorsports www.speedventures.net would be happy to accommodate NSX drivers at their events. Maybe later this summer all us track guys can go to their Willow Springs event and hang out?

It would be great if you guys could send me your laptimes. AMB laptimes are most accurate. Hotlap timers are next best, as long as you are honorable about your laptimes. Stopwatch times suck, but until we get more AMB times and Hot Lap times, I’ll take a stopwatch time, but it won’t qualify you for top the hill unless no one else has an electronically verified time. It would be nice to get the top 10-20 lap times for each track for each Honda powered car.

You want us all to record our times so you can laugh at how much slower we are than you. I see how it is.

It would be nice to reclaim some of the West Coast tracks as ours.

Nahhh....think of it as your opportunity to get in the "Top 10" of a particular class. You can thank your sponsors, mechanics, (maybe they give you discount to get in top 10?)

I didn't realize Mazda gives their drivers contingency/discounts that track their cars at events like autocross/other events. It sure would be nice if Honda did that for us....

They sponsor tracks, too.

Doug, so you mean you will have 10 seperate names with their best laptimes
for each track?

I didn't think I'd have a chance to be in such a list for a while, but if
its 10 people and only those who drive NSXs... I may have a little chance.
I'll use a transponder next time I am at the track and will let you know
my times.

Kenji,

I believe it is for all Honda. but it is also classified by model. So, yeah, you have a good chance of being there, as we all know how slow NSX drivers are

I'm gonna be in Laguna this Friday, and this time with Hotlap timer. The last time I was at Laguna was last year, so it's been a while. I'll be happy if I can get 1:47 this time. Looks like I can be the king of Laguna for at least a short period of time.

Yes, I would like to have at least 10 names for each model(NSX/S2000/Civic/Integra) for each track. Better yet would be to have about 20 names for each track, with a blurb on their various mods/sponsors/excuses.

Uhh....you must be bringing some serious NSX hardware, as uh....P.D. is on top for Laguna!

Hey Doug it's good to see you post here! I really enjoy reading the Pulp. BTW I tried to use the Wayne's approach to buy my 360 F1... didn't work with my better half. She thinks Wayne is completely crazy!
rolleyes.gif
and after 20+ years she's just finding out just how over the edge I am ...
biggrin.gif
never saw me race Moto-x in So. Cal.

Here's another follow up idea ... NSX Owner Kart Challenge Series? Maybe Rotax? Take the best and challenge the Viper, S2000, etc. guys to a owner team challenge. Now we're talking pure driver ability.

Maybe not, PD did not do well in 2001 at Limerock, what is the fastest time at Limerock by a NSX? Rumor is there is a guy ran 59.7 in a NSX at Limerock which is same time as the #1 time in 2001 world challenge. Of course, just a rumor!!!

Oops, maybe not, I guess PD ran 59.5 last year on sunday qualifying.

Kerry, I heard about the rumor, but I believe he is running Hoosier? PD is running street tires, which put him about 3 sec slower than hoosier.

Very good time regardless...

Wow, I did not know WC runs street tires. I think the same guy run 1:02:xx on street tires (Dunloop S9000), so your estimate seems correct. I heard his car only put down 310 rwhp, so must be good driving.

They run Toyo T1-S Proxes, a high-performance street compound. Catch is, they run them really SHAVED, to the point that they are ALMOST as good as a slick.

yes, but the rubber compound itself is MUCH harder than a Hoosier RS303 for example..

You can count my name in the top 10 Honda drivers for Portland International Raceway. I'll be there this weekend and try to clock some times with a transbonder..

I spoke to PD about the tires last year during the Laguna Seca race (where he kicked everyone's ars
biggrin.gif
).
The Toyo tires are more of a promotional thing and everyone runs them so it's equal.
He thought they were an OK tire. However, he didn't think they were the best tire and said he much preferred the Bridgestone and Yokohama tires.

That is pretty good/aggressive time Andrie ....
cool.gif

At the S2K event at LS in January, one of the highly tuned/prepped S2K (Kings Motorsport) was running those times with slicks and it was NA ........ set and good drivers can do marvels with NA car ....

Go for it Andrie, make us proud ........
wink.gif

Out of luck. Laguna was wet. Drizzling all day. Learn smoother line, but definitely slippery. I turned in 1:52.83 in wet, so I am pretty confident to be able to get into 1:46 in dry.

The King people did 1:44 with hoosier. They also have about $6K moton shocks!! Definitely a fast car.

Andrie, you definitely need a sponsor, and that means you need a manager since you have not secured a sponsor so far .......... hint hint hint .....

Cheers from the gallery or was that supposed to be from the orchestra section ......

Wish I can go out and say, yeah, I'm fast. But the fact is there are a lot of faster guys out there. I maybe pretty fast at this level (school/open track level), but by no mean I'm fast enough for pro racing or even some club racing. Wheel to wheel racing really bring a whole new perspective to me. I still have mch to learn.

But if you can bring in sponsor at my level of skill right now, heck I'll take it

I spoke to PD at Sebring last month and he had a funny reply when asked about the Toyo's. He said, "Well, I don't have a boat...but if I did, I wouldn't even use those tires as fenders on the dock!" Now that's a pretty scathing remark but then again there were no sponsor personnel around at the time.
