Hello all, I want to thank you all for the good info. I have never posted yet, but I have been reading the board for about a month while I found the right car. I got rid of a Boxster S to get the NSX, and man I should have done this a long time ago, this thing is awesome. I got a green on tan 1994 that was a spotless one owner car. It has 15,000 on the clock. Questions:
- at 15k do I need to be replacing the timing belt due to the age of the car or is that un-needed?

- honda emblems, cool or not???

- what type of exhaust/intake should I get?

thanks in advance!!!
Aaron

You should change the belt based on years. I believe it is 6 years or 90K miles. I changed mine at 63K. Also do the water pump since the new belt will have different tension and will affect the water pump bearings.

Honda emblems are fine if done right to copy the JDM model, IMO. Factory emblem up front and factory emblem behind the rear taillight lens on the inside. There are a couple DIY on it available if you search the forum.

A lot of people spend lots of time and/or money doing this so if it's already done, and done well, you could leave it alone.

If it's done right, but you don't like it, you will find plenty of people on these forums that would be happy to switch center pieces with you. It would save them some time and effort of doing it themselves.
Most people go the DIY route, as the actual JDM rear pieces are darker than US. That means you would have to buy all the rear pieces to match which cost over 1K, not just the small center piece.

Congratulations Aaron -- I am sure you will enjoy the car. Great color combo IMO.

- what type of exhaust/intake should I get?
There are several good aftermarket systems available, all IMO offering an improvement over the "too quiet" stock setup.

It depends largely on preferences -- what type of sound do you prefer? Then I'd consider looks (exhaust tip choices); then weight savings.

Nice choice of color/year

Check the FAQ too for this type of stuff. Most of it has been very well discussed before.

Congratulations!!! You will absolutely love the car, and that is a great color combination.

I think that the FAQ is the best place to start with headers and exhaust, then do a search on the forums for more recent additions. The Tubi exhaust is what I have, and I love the look and sound. A lot of people have been using the Taitec exhaust due to excellent workmanship and low cost. Comptech makes good quality stuff (both headers and exhaust) and Chris Wilson with Science of Speed can get slightly better prices, so check with him. Plus Chris is great to work with. New choices coming with another true dual exhaust. The choices are multiple. Mostly comes down to sound and appearance as already stated. Have fun with your new toy!

Aaron,
If you don't mind telling, how much did you pick it up for? I recently bought my 94 with 69k miles for 32.7k. Just curious how much those lower miles cars are worth, or if I paid too much.
Thanks
Mike

Congratulations Aaron - I'm sure you'll love your car like all of us here do ours.

My personal opinion is that gold BBS type wheels look amazingly good with your color combination.

I also like the look of a lowered NSX with 17"/18" wheels/tires. You can see a picture of my '91 with these mods here if you wish.

Again, congratulations & welcome to the Forum!!

Mike, I paid $42,000 for the car which was slightly higher than others I had been looking at, but it is a spotless one owner car that has had all acura service, the 15k service( done at 14,000 miles), a new clutch, and an older gentleman owner. It also seemed better to me becuase it is bone stock, down to new A022's bought at the acura dealer, so to me it was worth it. Hope I didn't overpay too bad

Congrats on your new purchase!

Honda emblem
-I've been thinking about this as well, but since I'm not going to do the rear center taillight mod(boiling water or heat gun) this mod will probably never happen. It'll be weird IMO to have an "H" emblem in the front and an "ACURA" out back or on the wheel center caps. I'd like them to be all the same, all Acura or all Honda.

Exhaust
- Tons to choose from. I suggest you do a search for other topics on this as it has been discussed many many times. I haven't heard any in person, so you might want to hear as much as you can if you get the chance.

Intake
- While most if not all intakes do not add any real noticeable horsepower alone, they do help when added at the same time with headers and exhaust. GruppeM seems to be the best sounding intake around(and the most expensive), and works similarly as any of the others available.

Hope that helps a little

This may be getting picky, but the Factory cassette slot says "Acura/Bose" and the Acura name is embedded in my steering wheel face. It might be a pain in the butt trying to convert those items to "Honda".
