Level ten auto tran upgrade warning

There has been several discussions regarding modifying automatic NSXs with force induction. The most common response I've seen is the transmission won't be able to handle the power, and the most common remedy has been the level 10 automatic performance upgrade.

I know there are some members thinking about doing this in the future. I have come across some interesting information with regards to level 10 in other car forums. It turns out that there has been several Q45, 3000GT, and Supra owners with level ten. Their transmission upgrades were not able to handle the power like they claimed, and are basically ignoring the customers who have these failed transmisison with their upgrades.

What surprises me is that even Supra owners have problems. The auto tranny in the supra is said to be able to handle BPU levels of horsepower (which I believe is 400hp at the crank). The trannys with level 10 upgrades have failed in BPUed Supras. This lead me to believe that not only does level 10 did not strengthen the tranny, but in this instance it actually made it weaker.

Now, this is what I read in other forums, and they might have the capabilities of building a bullet proof auto tranny. I just wanted to let everyone know that there are problems with level 10, and that maybe some more research is needed to determine whether a level 10 upgrade is suitable for an automatic NSX.

RyRy,

We are installing the Level 10 tranny on our 2JZ Supra GS300. There are some issues with it since it is a proto, but Level 10 has been very good on the customer service side thus far.

Speed Safely,
