Has anyone actually run any 1/4 mile and/or 0 to60 mph accelerationtimes in their 1991 or 1992 NSX's.Will it realistically do a sub 6 second 0 to 60 mph time with a good driver behind the wheel? B Jones.

In magazine tests the 91~94 NSX generally hit 60 in 5.2, the Targa 95 & 96 around 5.5, 97+ 4.8 (best at 4.5 by C&D)... Even an automatic hit 60 under 6 seconds... So I guess even a half way decent driver can hit 60 under 6 seconds...

g-tech confirmed.. 0-60 5.2, 1/4 mile 13.4 @ 111.00. note--- most drag strips use a "trap" speed which is an average speed of the last 60 ft. the g-tech is an "actual" mph. i believe most magazines post an "actual" mph. versus "trap" speed.

Ok, so lets look at myself. I have my own '94 NSX since almost four weeks now (and clocked about 2500 miles already).

If I want to dp a 'very quick' launch I do it this way.
With TCS on I just press the pedal and let the clutch come up real quick at about 1000-1200 rpm. As soon as the clutch is fully engaged I floor the pedal and then redline it in 1st (actually to about 8100rpm) and then shift to 2nd. By then I've reached 100 kph almost already. I never get the feeling the engine wants to bog down or anything. The moment the car starts moving I might get some occasional tire-chirp but the wheels never spin (Continental 265/35 at the rear).
However, I've also read about people who will just start at anywhere between 3000 and 5000 rpm before the let the clutch go. Would that be a better way to launch or is it just a way to burnout your clutch?

BTW, another question came to mind.
Does anyhone have any other times than just the standard 0-60 for both the 3.0 and 3.2 NSX. Like 0-40/50/60 all the way to say about 150mph. Since gears are different I suppose their might be moments the 3.0/5-speed NSX catches up since you miss at least one shift.

Maybe, maybe not.

There are numbers from 0-30 through 0-140 in the FAQ here, if you scroll down to "What are the numbers?". But these compare the two transmissions (five-speed and six-speed) with everything else constant, so it assumes a 3.0-liter engine in both cases, without the extra hp of the 3.2-liter. The only place these numbers show that the five-speed is faster is 0-80, where the five-speed is still in second and the six-speed must use third.

I suspect that the 20-hp difference with the 3.2-liter engine would outweigh any differences in gearing at any speed range.
