The NSX I am looking at getting has a bad left speaker. He sent it off to get fixed and when he got it back, it still was not working. They guy said something about a part leaking??? Anyway, he is sending the speaking back to get fixed again. Is this typical? Is this speaker pretty much shot?

its usually the amp, not the speaker. since they are amplified speakers, you have to have the whole amp removed, not just the speaker. its a cheap fix, you just have to send it off to boses and they rebuild it for you(actually i think they send you one already rebuilt because the turn time is quick.

apparently it is a common problem, my passenger side and center have already gone out. you can tell its the amp if youre getting a really hissy whiny feedback from the speaker. you can use the search and find a lot of other owners whove had the same thing.

good luck and welcome to the forum

oops, sorry--didnt mean to say welcome to the forum, so uhh, welcome to the speaker problem

It was amp that was bad and sent off (i just meant the whole unit). Anyway, he got it back and it still didnt work.. so i am wondering if it can be fixed, or its just dead.

How did you guys get the speakers out?
I need to do this too, but its a pain in the butt it seems.

Kenji, I just followed the directions in the service manual PDF (I needed to lube the window rails and remove speaker). Was pretty straight-forward.

From what I remember:
* remove the covers near the front (near mirror) and rear (near latch) of the door, * remove the inside door latch (about 8 screws)
* remove 7(?) screws around the door
* pull up to remove the inside-part of the door
* Unplug the speaker and unscrew 4 screws to remove.

dont know if the amp is misrepaired or unrepairable, but i would find out if he sent it to BOSE for the repair, or somewhere else. if it was bose, then they'll just go ahead and exchange it again for a rebuilt unit.
