2002 NSX Stone Guard fit older NSX's?

I just saw my first 2002 NSX yesterday in Tustin, CA. It was Monaco Blue and gleaming like a sunbeam. I approached the driver who said that he was loaned the car through his company which is somehow involved with cars. What a rough life this guy must have getting a dream car to drive on the weekends. When I was drooling over the perfect paint, I looked into the mouth of the front bumper and was surprised to see a black stone guard staring back at me. It looked to be an attractive thin aluminum screen with small rhomboidal holes. It was not covering the entire opening but only the bottom 2/3's. Seeing that my 92 with 90k has seen many stone dings in the radiator, I had wondered if I could get the OEM screen for my car. The driver was not aware that any after market product had been placed on the car. I wondered if anyone knew about this new stone guard and whether or not it would fit on the old front bumper?

I should also say that my brother is a car designer for Nissan. He has one of these dream jobs where management requires these poor souls to drive the best and the baddest cars for lunch meetings to discuss their automotive likes and dislikes. Somebody should tell these people what the definition of work is(i.e. Work = a means to pay for your eventual death).

If you want something more aggressive, ala MYNSX:

"The grills were custom made locally by what I call "the grill dude".
his # is 480 628-5310
Shane and Kodiak they are brothers that have these and most grills available for most cars already.
He does great work and already has the specs. for the 91 through 2001 NSX.
They are "pressure fit" and do not require screwing into the body.
If anyone is interested let him know you were refered by Bill in AZ w/ yellow NSX."

NSXTASY,

I don't believe that these stone guards for the radiator were from Dali. I have seen the Dali set from their website. As I remember, the Dali guards cover the entire orifice of the front bumper and have dense mesh. The units I saw only covered part of this orifice and were made of a black sheet metal screen with large geometric holes. The owner gave me the impression that this car was not privately owned so I thought it would be unlikely to have had any after market products installed on it. It wouldn't surprise me if Acura had made a new stone guard for the new 2002 or if this was a custom job. Please tell me if you know anything about this. Unfortunately, my local Acura dealership has never been very helpful.

Actualy stone guard is the brand name of adhesive 3m film that goes on the paint. you're talking about a radiater guard which anyone can custum fabricate with mesh from lowes or home depot. To do a good job you have to be willing to remove the front bumper cover and facia, not too big a deal.

The mesh 'grill' you saw on the '02 is part of the deal-it comes with the car. The shape of the '02 grill is quite different than the older cars, so it won't retrofit, but it shouldn't be too hard to have something similar fabricated.
