Engine cover removal questions

I have removed the engine cover on my NSX recently (i just love showing it off). I have noticed by looking through the inside back window, that it seems like the hatch/glass doesnt fit very well with the cover off. Lots of noticable light coming through, and the hatch looks like its bouncing a bit. Is it possible to adjust the latch assembly, for a more secure fit? Any help is appreciated. I dont want to put that cover back on.

You can cut out the middle of the cover and leave the edges - it is used as a gasket for a better fit of the glass hatch.

Or you can look into one of those wire mesh covers...

I took my cover off years ago due to the addition of lots of polished/chrome parts that I want to show off. I notice the hatch bouncing a little bit but not to the point where it's banging around. My hatch was very hard to close with the engine cover on and with it off, it's a bit easier. I still have a semi tight fit.

There are small rubber bumpers near the strut bar where the glass hatch rests on. I don't know if they are adjustable but if they are, you could "unscrew" them moving them upward. I believe the NSX rubber bumpers should be adjustable. Give it a try.

Great question.....I was going to pose the same thing to the group here. I don't have a ton of money to spend on an expensive Gruppe M or equivalent engine cover, nor do I want to tear a gaping hole in my stock one in case I want to go back to stock one day. So, I took my engine cover off and I have noticed the same thing you have. My question is what specifically do you do to fill in the gap to make the hatch fit without vibrating? I've seen on here a thread/FAQ that says to go to the hardware store to pick some rubber pieces up, but I have no idea what type/size these pieces are and how to install them.

Any help?

I removed my Lid also and had some rattling...So all I did was get some 1/2 inch thick weather stripping and put it on the back plastic piece where you open the Hatch and Walla!!!!!no more noise.

I had the same rattling problem in January: http://www.nsxprime.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/003456.html
and I did put back the engine cover after that...

There is a very simple solution. The silly parts company JC Whitney (do they still exist?) sold a rubber molding with an adhesive backing. It is a molding similar to what is on the cover or around doors. You cut it to length and stick it on along the margin where the engine bay meets the rear. I put mine on 6 years ago--no rattle, no problems.

Look on the FAQ; the description and JC whitney part # may be there
