Sound from air filter?

I installed a K&N on mine and didn't have that sound. Whenever I would slam the gas all I would hear is a LOUD sucking sound. But a sqeaking sound is wierd.

The sound from the K&n is normal, you get that sound on any after market intake. I LOve that sound. I guess you the only one that doesn't like it.

I live in Florida and it is extremely hot and humid almost every day.

I had a 97 nsx about three years ago and tried the RM intake. My car felt VERY slow and the low end torque was very sluggish.

I ended up taking out the baffle from the wheel well to try to get more fresh air into the filter. It made the car very loud! It sounded great but still felt sluggish.

At that time RM had a snorkel that gave the filter a ram air effect. There were concerns about water getting into the engine through the filter and wear on the engine due to an increased amount of dust ect.

When I switched back to the OEM one the car felt MUCH faster and the torque curve returned to normal.

The bottom line is, if you don't care about speed and want greatly improved engine sound and are willing to risk "possible" engine problems then get a cone filter.

If I lived in the cold weather and had the snorkel it might be a different matter HP wise. You will still be risking water and or excess intake sediment problems.

I'm leaving my new one stock!

(If you have exhaust and header mods the cone filter will probably help HP even in high heat and humidity)
