Maybe someone out there can help me with this. I have a 92 nsx that started having issues with the driver side amp ...or so I thought it was the amp. While checking the driver side amp out while waiting for the replacement to ship from Williams, I noticed a popping on the passenger side. So I called Williams back and they gave me a break on replacing all three amps. I put the new amps in and the passenger side works fine but the driver side is still messed up so I figured next thing to try is the speaker. I pulled the amp from the passenger side and it seemed to work ok, a little quiet, but I figure maybe it was just the fact that I was only running the left side. I ordered a replacement speaker and put it in today and damn if the thing still isn’t broken. I am picking up my multi meter tonight from a friend that borrowed it and I am going to check the line coming from the head to the speaker. Has any one else had this issue? I really don’t want to have to replace the radio if there is something I am missing here that could be the problem. If it comes down to replacing the head until anyone have any idea what that is going to cost me? I figure I better stick with stock as I already have spent 600.00 to replace the speakers and the amps

When I had one of mine replaced, the first replacement they sent me was no good, but when I sent that one back, the second one was fine...

Take the left speaker+amp , and try it on the right side.
Then you check again.

Thats offcourse if the P/N's are the same, but i did repair a couple of them, and all i can see is that they are the same....
Can't think off any reason why not.

For anyone with this problem, see a wizkid who knows about electronics, he will fix it for a few tenners.
Don't wait to long with a repair, it could burn the PCB off the amp to destruction.

Europeans.... just call me....

I pulled both doors apart this evening and it would seem that the right speaker works ok in the left side. when I place the left speaker in the right side I get the same results as with the normal connection. It sounds almost like the left side is a rear channel. The sound also changes from CD to CD or from time to time with the radio. One minute it sounds fine and the next the left and the center is really distorted. I am guessing that it is the head until at this point ? Any ideas on how to check before I go hunting for a new head unit ?

It sure starts to sound like youre headunit is faulty, especially if the footwell speaker seems to make noise as well.

Measure the 4 wires (there potential to ground), to see if you have a good 12 Volt. Compare to the 'known-good'. If you can't figure out how to measure, please ask.

I haven't heard many going on about a faulty NSX radio.

well it looks like it is the head unit. I spoke to Daryl at Williams and they are going to look at it for me. BTW if anyone has any problem with there stereo contact Daryl at Williams they have been really helpful and extreamly fast in helping me solve this. Thanks for all of your help as well nsxtasy and DutchBlackNsx

The stereo head unit can go bad. Mine is presently at a electronic equipment repair shop. The amplifier integrated circuit chip was bad. The technician has a replacement ordered, but cautions that he will not be sure if the replacement is exactly right until he receives it. Since the anticipated cost is $100 plus tax, it seems well worth the risk.
