Should I change my oil

Going to the track on Wednesday. The car has Mobil 1 in it that is about 1500 miles and 3 months old. I know it's premature, but I'm think I should put fresh oil in the car. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't worry about it. I use Mobil 1 and change it every 5K miles. Have done two track events betweeen oil changes one time and no problems.

I stick to my usual routine regardless of whether I'm going to the track or not.

My routine is every 3,750 miles or every 4 months, whichever comes first, and I use full synthetic. For the NSX, if I'm not using it for any long trips, this means I change it in spring when I first bring the car out, and I change it once towards the end of the summer.

I wouldn't hesitate to take it to the track with Mobil 1 with 1500 miles and 3 months on it.

Hmmm, Is it bad to keep the oil for more than 4 months?I had mine changed last January and about 3200 miles. (Mobil 1 5w-30 Synthetic)

When synthetic oils first came on the market, they claimed that you could extend your oil change intervals. They no longer make that claim. Remember, even though synthetic oil is less likely to degrade at extreme high temperatures, it's going to accumulate particulate matter (i.e. dirt) at the same rate as conventional oil.

A lot of mechanics recommend every 3,000 miles or every 3 months. I am comfortable stretching that to 3,750 and 4 months.

The official recommendation from Honda for the NSX is every 7,500 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first. You're at 6 months now. It's time to get it changed.
