i was driving in chinatown today and i was at a red light , a hook up bimmer pulled up next to me .it had all hammann upgrades with 19 inches 4 door with the wide body ...it was nice...so nice i forgot the light turn green .....i use to own 2 m3 myself so i love bimmers ...the owner of this bimmer gave me the nastiest look ...like i would never own a car like that ....oh btw i was in my 94 chryler new yorker ...as much as i love my nsx i still enjoy big roomy american cars .....i swear whenever i drive this car ,,,i get no respect ....{not looking for any }but whenever i drive the nsx ....all the kids would wave and smile ,girls would turn heads ...honda owners would race up and give me the thumbs up ...you guys know what i am talking about ....its amazing how people still judge you for what you drive...
if i ever see a nsx owner giving me nasty look... {when i am in my domestic ride }i
would flip cause i know ..we are better then that ....i hope ...

I've also noticed the different reactions based on what I'm driving. If I'm in the vette, every kid in a hopped up Camaro or Firebird wants to race. In the NSX, it's hopped up Civics and the like. It is kinda cool though. If I'm in my '91 Caprice wagon, nobody even notices at all.

We live in a country that runs on ego and greed - how you LOOK and what you OWN is everything, and people will treat you differently because of this.

I can only hope that one day we grow out of it because until then, we will never truly be the greatest nation in the world - we'll only think that we are

This is good. It encourages people to work and advance themselves. I want people to respect me because of what I have EARNED, not a position I was BORN into.

I can only hope that one day we grow out of it because until then, we will never truly be the greatest nation in the world - we'll only think that we are

Nonsense. We already are the greatest nation in the HISTORY of the world - the only nation founded on the principle of freedom of the INDIVIDUAL.

i totally i agree with you michigan ....
very well put ....
but again people shouldnt be so shallow and shady .....just because people drive better cars then others dont mean they are better then them ....some are more fortunate then other ...and i know i am very fortunate to have a good life ...therefore i tend to help others that are less fortunate .....
the lord will not bless you if you are not willingly to bless others....
and real person wasup with the personal stuff you are posting about david allen ....?

I definately understand the way you feel. When I'm in MYNSX the reations of other people for instance in the past 2 months are.

-wholly SH!t(at the show thats what we want, out for dinner it's a little overwhelming at times...although I never mind this reation)

-a lot of thumbs up(thats the simplist to deal with)I just tap the horn as a thank you.

-the cars next to me swerving as the driver looks over his shoulder at the car.
(a compliment but a little unnerving)

-the female passenger (thank God) lifts up her shirt to expose 2 huge teetas.(no,that I never mind!!)

- female at the car shows saying (can I fu($ you for your car!!)...A nice offer "but" these types are NEVER around when I'm single.I seems this type of crap always happens ONLY when I'm engaged.(Nor do they EVER try this when she's with me in the car)THAT WOULD BE WAR..

- another female can I "f%c& your car" and then starts grinding her crotch area in through the window(VERY ENTERTAINING)again this ONLY happens when she's not around and of course when I'm engaged....frustrating but a good opportunity to practice self restraint.

-three early 18-20 year old sprouting girls each one more attractive than the other w/ eyes wide open and literally jumping into the car(this was ridiculous,ALL THREE at center console and two jammed into passenger seat)
That was about the most difficult to restrain and practice loyalty
I love my fiance'
smile.gif

I love my fiance'
smile.gif

AAAAgain only when Im engaged
frown.gif

-I usually get free valet service or at least
V.I.P treatment at my favorite resturaunts in town.(this is one of my favorites)They usually insist it's parked in the owner /managers spot at the head of the resturaunt and the staff acts as security.

-99% reactions positive like the above mentioned.EXEPT TWO TIME'S SOMEONE HAS SPIT ON THE CAR!!one on the windshield ,one on the trunk. Of couse when I'm not w/ the car!.....They would find themselves spitting out teeth if I was there.(and it's really disgusting)I'd prefer them leave a nasty note telling me to go to hell or something.
Well you can win em' all....
smile.gif

PS..... With all this said when I drive my white soft top Jeep 4x4 w/ a 3 and half inch lift and ballooning tires I am totally stealth ,I do NOT exist to anyone.Which is complete solitude usually....
This is what I drive when I'm not in a "get along with others day".
smile.gif
(if I'm annoyed by 99% positive reactions I SHOULD LEAVE IT HOME.)
This is also what I drive when preparing for a show and the detailer is finished the NSX days ahead of schedule. http://www.xldm.com/DSC00001.JPG

If these are my worst burdens that's fine.
If you can't simply just say "thank you" to the stranger that wants to compliment your work and efforts ,and be greatful for the opportunities faith makes possible to most(although some don't see these opportunities and refuse to believe this is true)I usually have a great respect for people who wear their materail possessions "LOOSLY" and share the experiences with others.

You wrote and I quote exactly

I read this post "after my reply"
very sad....

"After all, I'm the one with the car, so I'm not upset. If you and your
friend can't afford it then stop whining and take your inability to
purchase a real car somewhere else.

" I will "not" say I have NEVER looked down on the less fortunate.....But,when I realize I'm doing it out of "Taught Bad Habit" I stop myself and remind myself where I come from.

If this is true there is a saying that goes something like this.....
When you point the finger at someone "THERE ARE THREE OF YOUR OWN POINTING BACK AT YOU!!"

""" If the shoe fit's wear it"""""

realperson,

It's against the rules of this forum to use it as a place to make personal attacks on others. It's also generally considered a violation of privacy to copy private e-mail over to a public forum such as NSXprime.

You'll need to behave yourself if you want to continue to participate here. I'm sure the NSXprime moderators will tell you the same thing.

Now, let's get back to our discussion about the attention that we receive while driving the NSX...

I'm a 25 year old guy with an NSX. My parents thing I'm outta my mind for spending this kind of dought on something 'to get you from point A to point B'. They don't understand the way I'm sure all of you guys understand. If it were up to them, I'd be driving an old sh#t-box until it fell apart, or riding the bus.

My long time friends hardly ever ask me for a ride, or talk about the car, and the girl I'm dating didn't even know what one was until I pulled up in it one day. (Months after we started dating).

I like the fact that the people that I knew before the car, still know me and like me despite my possesions. These are the true friendships that will last through the good times and the bad.

Now for the fun stories!!!! When I'm cruisin down the highway, its a common occurance to have someone pull up, rev the engine and want to race. I'll smile, wave, give a 'peace' sign no matter who is in the car or what kind of car it is. Sometimes I will 'punch it', but I'll usually slow down and smile/wave again before heading off in my own direction.

I remember (because it wasn't too long ago) when a car like mine was just a dream and seeing one driving down the road was the highlight in my day. I hope in some sort of way, I am making someones day, or better yet, inspiring them to work hard, as I have, to achieve their goals.

Occasionally, I will be stopped at a red light, a gas station or the grocery store (yes I do get groceries in the NSX every once in a while) and people will gawk or ask questions. I will always take the time to answer their questions or show them the car. I think that this type of response from an 'exotic' owner, should be mandatory. Why do you think there are jokes like 'what is the difference between a Porshe and a porcupine?'

One last tidbit. I love going to car dealerships in the car. I sold cars for 4 years and was a dealership finance manager for 1, so I know how thing work. I'm out of the business now, but most salemen are so predictable. I'm looking for a winter car (as I live in Wisconsin) to replace my 99 Accord. Maybe an IS300, maybe a 330, I don't know. When I pull on the lot in the Accord, I can't get a freakin brochure, when I drive the NSX, salesmen show up like strippers at a bachelor party!!!

Does anyone agree?

Wow! It sure has been awhile since I got my head bit off for sharing my opinion in this forum. I do still stand by my opinion. Sorry if it offended some of you
smile.gif

Just so everyone knows, realperson (whoever he is) sent me an offensive and insulting EMail after I responded to his friends' offer of $65K for my '00 Comptech NSX (both attempted to tell me I'd never get a penny more for it). Of course he's not going to post the original insulting EMail he sent, nor the EMail that I was responding to
smile.gif

Why he created an account to bring a personal issue he wasn't even supposed to be involved in yet created himself here to the boards is beyond me.

So Mnguyen - you get some good feedback here?

David Allen,

While I strongly disagree with your opinions on our country, I did not mean to "bite your head off", nor was I offended. One of the stengths of this country is or ability to disagree without coming to blows over it. I think that this is the real "diversity" that makes our country strong - not the forced diversity our education system pushes.

No hard feelings whatsoever.

I am 28 years of age, and Im still in search for that rocket of a dream. What I like most about it is that you know, you and a few lucky individuals get the attention that we search for which is a confidence booster. I've been searching for an NSX for the last 6 years. If I had money back then, it was not enough to purchase one so I spent it on my car kekeke....soo soo sad. But I vowed this year that I would get one and join this site some call heaven. hehehe. Im new here but have been coming to this site for a year and reading your posts. Very interesting I might add. When ever I see a person in an NSX I pull up with no hate or envy. I would be saying to myself that this guy has taste and wave and let him be on his way hehehe....I couldnt imagine myself being on my way once I catch up hehehe....but hey guys I tried to persue that NSX look once, and When I get it, I will swap my wing from my old car to my NSX.
http://members.rogers.com/zinger/

does it look JTCC'ish to you guys hehehe....sooo sooo sad.. but hey give me till october guys.

That's the ugliest wing I've ever seen. By far.

You're kidding us about this, right?

Hey pok8rok8, can you actually get liftoff on your car with that thing?

It looks like the "Official wing sponsored by NASA" (tm)

Of course my favorite is the flatbed wing... No competing with that...

Hi Mnguyen,

I appreciate your message.

I think it's sad when someone is SO insecure that their worth as a person is dependent upon what they've GOT. I've often thought the term 'net-worth' should really be 'net-have' - because that's all it is. A person is not 'worth' MORE because he HAS more.

Years ago - I walked into a Toyota dealership to take a look at the 'all-new' Supra. There was a black on sitting in the middle of the showroom. It was surrounded by 'do not even THINK of touching me' rope. I asked the salesman if I could [at least] SIT in the Supra. Long story short - he treated me like crap. He was completely disinterested in MY interest in the new Supra. In fact - he responded to all of my questions as if I was sh*t on his shoes and was completely wasting HIS time. After shaking my head in disblief [for a minute or two] I walked out of the showroom. I held my tongue - so to speak - because there were some older ladies standing near me. My NSX was parked just out of view of the Toyota showroom. As I approached my car - I heard someone running towards me. It was that same snotty salesman. THIS time - however - he was VERY nice!! [gee - I wonder WHY!!] He had a Supra brochure in his hand and was frantically searching for one of his 'cards'. "Excuse me Sir. I found a Supra brochure for you!" All I said was, "keep it!" What a jerk!!

Benjamin Franklin once said [and I'm paraphrasing!!] "I never judge a man until I see how he treats ANOTHER man who he BELIEVES can do nothing for him."

Thanks again
Craig!!

pok8 please dont put on that spoiler ... i will pay you not to put on that spoiler ...
the nsx is beatiful the way it is ......well i hope you get your nsx soon ....becareful about the 91 and 92 ...there alot of nsx in the snapring range ......but please do not put on that spoiler ...

Actually you can, thats what the F1 engineer told me when he designed it. But instead of take off it actually goes down. hmmm wonder why? I guess they made a mistake thats why I'm not flying off the ground yet. hehehe.
All I know is that corners never felt better in my life.

We'll see what happens...hehehe.....as of yet I dont have the car so I guess you guys are safe from me not showing you what it would look like. The wing does actually work. Yes it is ugly, but what says the jtcc wide fenders look beautiful. It works too, but to me the edgyness takes the curve of the rear fender away. My take on it? I think it just takes some getting used to. I still dont know what I will do. The first is to get the nsx. Seems like I see alot of banged up ones up here in Toronto. When I go driving, I can always spot one from a mile or 3 away. Dont know why I cant spot cops like that hehehehe.

I guess since I'm not engaged, none of the exciting things that MYNSX experienced have happened to me.

My experiences have been:

1) Old man in a Cadillac DeVille rolled down his window and asked me what kind of car I had

2) 10 year old boys wave at me

3) A girlfriend who says it looks like a flying saucer and wants me to trade it in for a 4-door sedan

4) A guy backs into my passenger's side door at a gas station and tells me he feels bad for the damage to such a nice car and that it's going to cost him a lot (he proceeds to give me fake insurance information)

5) Cop pull me over for "gunning my engine" despite me being well UNDER the speed limit (needless to say, I'm going to go to court for that one)

So when do the girls start flashing me? Do I need to propose to someone first?
smile.gif

This will happen when you have a female companion in the car with you right when the relationship is just beginning to look good...

:p
