How do you get in to your NSX?

This might be a goofy question but I’m going to ask it anyway because I want my seats to last as long as possible.

How do you get in to your NSX? Do you put your butt down on the seat first, and then rotate your legs in? Or do you put your right foot in first, and then slide down the seat and left bolster? Or do you get in some other way that would prevent less wear on your seat?

Good question.

Here's how I do it:

-I somehow put my lefthand on the door sill/right next to the gas cap door opener

-put my right foot in the car

-slide my ass over the bolsters (using my left hand/arm) and try to settle in without rubbing things too much

-bring the rest of my body in.

It's much easier with the roof off.

I know most people sit ass first, then bring their upper area, then feet in.

unfortunatly i put my right foot in first then slide in and in many cases there is no other way especially if there are cars or walls next to your vehicle and ur not able to open the door all the way....i have looked for seat covers to offer some protection to the side bolster but i have not found anything that looks good.

Hint number 1: I slide the seat all the way back before exiting the car, and when I get in I wait until I'm properly seated to slide it forwards again.

Hint number 2: If you can, sit your butt down sideways in the car first, and then swing your legs around. That will avoid wear on the side bolster.

I use the seat always back all the way, and do my best not to rub with force as I slide in, but the right foot does go in first. Another trick is to keep the leather well conditioned so you slide rather than stick to it. Most of my clothes are soft 100% cotton as well.

I place my right foot in, grab the steering wheel with both hands and then pull myself in around the seat bolster. I make no contact with the side bolster as I'm getting it.

I jump in with my ass on the seat and right hand on the center counsel.

every time abort the NSX is exciting and terrifying ( might break something when jumping in )

I do a front handspring off the rear trunk lid just like Austin Powers and hopefully land in the driver's seat and not on the shifter.

Yeah Baby, Yeah!

Follow this hint and the side bolsters will look like new after many miles - mine do. My car is 2 1/2 years old with 16K miles and the bolsters look as new today as when I drove it off the showroom floor - perfect!

What I'm trying to do is use the Sparcos I bought to save my factory seats. But no brackets and sliders. But my stock seats look damn good for being 11 years old.

what i do is i put Zaino Leather condition on the seats once every other day to protect the leather and give it that new wet look. Remember, prevention is key when it comes to leather care. Once the leather cracks or creases, its too late

Simply place your left hand on the left side bolster to reduce wear while getting into the NSX. Your back will slide over your hand instead of the leather.
If you are still worried there is a dui or something at nsxprime about covering the bolsters in a clear protective material to reduce wear.

DUI (driving under the influence) or
DIY (do it yourself)?

Based on the photos posted here, that was the most hideous solution imaginable.

EASY!!!

open door

stick right foot in

take left hand and place on bottom of door sill

slowly lower yourself in using your right foot/leg and left arm to support weight

you never even touch the bolsters!!! plus it is a strenuous workout for your upper left side and your lower right side.

Now I have a hugely well developed upper left chest with a popeye arm, and my right leg is gargantuan like shwarzenegger with a completely muscular right ass cheek.

girls are always coming up to ask how part of me got so buffed. when i tell them it is because of my nsx sports car, they can't decide which quarter of me to go for. i've found that some prefer the upper left, especially if they are shy, while the less inhibited go straight for the lower right.

all i can say is, "THANK YOU NSX!"

Well, it's official - my wife thinks I'm nuts and thinks you all are nuts too.

I was practicing getting into my NSX, doing the right foot in - left hand on the sill - placing butt on the center of the seat - thing and she just stood there and shook her head. I didn't see her watching me so I'm not sure how many times she saw me do it, but it was enough to prompt a "Oh my God!" hiss.

She asked me why I was getting in and out and back in to the car. I told her that I asked you good people on the forum what the best way was to get in the car to prevent wear and tear on the seat bolster.

She just shook her head and mummbled something about you and your friends are freeking nuts, and walked off.

Anyway, thanks for the advice on entering the NSX. I have my routine down well enough that I can sit without touching the side bolster. Exiting is pretty much the same thing too. In another 10 years or so, I'll be able to look back and think "Yep, the seats are perfect.....if I had only spent more time with my ex, she still might be with me"
