I have been an admirer of the NSX since it was introduced in 91. Hopefully, I will be able to admire it in my garage shortly. My question is which NSX? Should I focus on the 95 or 97? I know the 97 has a 3.2 L engine, 6 speeds, higher top speed etc. but do these changes justify the extra dollars?
I drove a '93 NSX and it was a truly superb auto.

BTW, This site is the greatest and has provided me with hours of enjoyment.
Thanks

That depends on whether it's worth it to you. The '97 is definitely a better car - we can all agree on that - but only you can decide whether your budget can afford the extra $8-10K for the '97.

The biggest difference in my opinion is the 6 speed transmission. The slightly larger engine probably doesn't make nearly the impact that the different gearing does.

Try test-driving an early model with short-gears installed. Be sure to feel the differences for yourself before you make a decision.

I went for a '97 because I wanted a Targa and I had read that there were additional structural enhancements for the '97 and up Targa models. I also really like the transmission in my '97.

hope im not stating the obvious for you, but here's some info;

the sex speed is definately a better car.

if you want a targa then you need a 95 or newer.

if the targa isnt important then a 91-94 will be a better deal financially.

really, your choices are, Targa, six speed/3.2, or best value for the $$$. (what i mean by that is that the earlier 91-94 models have already depreciated out---not necessarily YOUR best value if you want a targa/sixspeed 3.2)

hope that helps

Yes. The informaion was very helpful. I guess I am trying to bring some rational thought into a really irrational process. (After all is it rational or really necessary to have an exotic car.) But if you have to have one the 97+ NSX seems to be worth the price.
Thanks all.

Let's hope the sex (at any speed) is definitely better than a car.
