I came home tonight in my NSX from logging in 140 miles, parked my car, shut the engine off and pulled the key out of ignition. I went out in my S2k and about 4 hrs. later I came back and realized this short, 2 sec. long buzzing sound, similar to a beeper on mute/vibrating mode, coming from the engine bay of my NSX. It seemed to repeat itself every 2 min. or so and it wouldn't stop. I didn't recall hearing this noise before, or maybe it was gthere in the beginning ever since I owned the car. I don't know....

So what's this about? Is it normal? Please explain. Thanks in advance.

Hi Zanardi50, did I meet you tonight at the meeting at NSX Modified? Anyways, the sound that you are describing could possibly be the coolant bottle bleeding off pressure. This could be caused by a hairline cracks in the coolant bottle and or the center section of the coolant bottle. I would suggest checking your coolant level and then taking the car out for a spirited drive. Park it after your drive in the garage and listen for the sound. If you hear it, try listening/looking around the collant bottle. If it is from the coolant bottle, it is time to replace.

Which NSX were you driving? Anyway, I looked and can't see any coolant leaks coming from the bottle, nor have I heard the strange buzzing/vibrating noise again since that night. I'll have the dealer's tech look into it on my next oil change (next week).
Another fellow forum member suggested to me that this may have something to do with the ABS system being activated b4 lockup and not turning itself off after the drive.

I had a buzzing sound eminating from the rear of the car when the engine was running. I could hear it from inside the interior. So, I left the engine running and did walk around outside the vehicle to isolate the noise. I found it was the exhaust tip! It appears that one of the welds that connect the exhaust pipe to the chrome tip might have come loose. No big deal, but thought I'd pass this along, for what it's worth.

Was this a CONTINUOUS/ buzzing sound, or a short quick buzz?

Very good guys, but funny you should ask about engine buzzing.I recently had real metalic buzzing and found that the bracket for the top plate that says v-tec between the heads had snapped. So the whole plate was buzzing,I thought about leaving it,hmmmm.

Had my '97 kaiser/black for all of a week and just noticed this same noise this evening. Does anyone have any idea what this is? About every 3 minutes, a 2-3 second buzz. It is absolutely coming from somewhere in the engine compartment but is not long enough for me to isolate. Is this the symptom of a bigger problem. The pre-purchase inspection said this was a great example of the car. Any help for a newbie would be appreciated!

Maybe the fueltank over/under pressure relief?
Try to remove the fuel cap, then listen again.

Probably nothing to do with it, but just trying to help.
