just test drove a 91nsx. and the dealer said he would fix the steering wheel. it haad like 2 inches of play there what's that abbout? the previous nsx I drove was not like that is it that the Steering rod is worn out? also, I did noticed that going up to 3rd gear from 2nd gear at high rpms there was a little grind from the tranny. synchro problem or snap ring range? I tried looking for the tranny # as stated on the FAQ section of snap ring range but couldn't find the #. can somebody tell me where exactly it is. thanks.

I think the car is been hit b4 cuz the pop up lite gaps did not have the same width. and the tow hook cap was taken out possibly to tow the car up a flat bed. and the front black skirt was loose badly worn with holes and detached from the side. driver door was scratched up bad. rear bumper needs a new paint job and hood was raised a bit near the driver side and front driver front 1/4 panel too.

You have quite the eye. Can you post the particulars about the car (vin #, dealer, etc.) so others can have a heads up.
Thanks

this is the car. notice that the tow hook cap is off too. and when I inspected the hook it showed signs that it's been used b4. The carfax is clean though. but I definitely know that the car was hit b4 cuz u can hear something inside rattle in the front. steering felt loose too on highway speeds. but I gotta give it to the car. this one is the 2nd nsx I've drive so far and felt to have more power than the 1st one I test drove I guess cuz it has a comptech muffler and sway bar. also the hood was messed up on the upper driver's side corner. but I think I mentioned that. buyers beware.

Look at the instructions here. The location is shown in a diagram on page 1-4 of the service manual, but unfortunately that page is not included in the version on this website.

nsxtasy,
yeah that's what I used and to no avail was I able to see the vin# or tranny #. man I suck. I am so new to the car I know nothing about it. hehehe anyway, I am not going to buy this car cuz too many cosmetic problems which indicated that's been hit.

sansnsx,
I was thinking of that one but when I conctacted the seller. he said he wanted $39k for the car. so there's no point there. but if u go check it out let us know how it was, ok?

You should find the tranny number on an NSX, just so you know how to find it. You have to look at it at JUST EXACTLY the right angle, and it's obvious; any other angle, and it's hidden.

In its absence, though, any 1991 NSX with a VIN less than about MT002500 is unlikely to be in the snap ring range (although this is not a guarantee). I think the snap ring range transmissions started getting installed in cars with VINs somewhere around MT002600 or so. But you have to look at the tranny number to be sure, because the transmissions were not installed in sequence.
