Strangely enough, I couldn't find anything related to this subject. I would like to know how much $ some of you were charged for header install?

I was quoted $700 from a reputable shop and it sounds somewhat high.(though this will include before/after dyno) He quoted 7 hours labor which is probably about right but is charging $100/hour! I'm going to the dealer tomorrow so I'll see what they say. In the mean time, if you can share how much you spent, i'd appreciate it.

My Headers installed ran $280 at Acura of Brookfield.

4-5 hours for Comptech and 5-6 hours for DC Sports I think is fair. So, $250.00 for Comptech headers is a good price. I think it is a good idea to buy the products that you are installing from the shop that is doing the work. Most will help you out to get a fair price on the part and labor, and you'll help to build a good relationship with you shop.

I was quoted $600 from St. Louis Acura. It ended up nearly costing me my life but I did it myself.

Chris is right about the estimates but wrong about it being fair - but that is the price you pay at a dealer. I did DC's with jack stands / hand tools the second time and it took me less then 5 hours total. I have talke to RM and he can do it on a lift in under an hour. The big difference with the DC sports headers is that you have to jack up the tranny slightly to get their headers in or out.

They are REALLY in there and you won't believe how many parts come off the car. Other thing - if you don't know what you are doing it isn't worth it. If you don't torque down the metal gasket's inside to outside and just right it will rattle and have to be done all over again.

and I was about to attempt it myself if I still had my garage...I guess you should bump up your life insurance before attempting.

Anyway Pohanka Acura in VA told me $325 which isn't out of this world so I'll probably go with them. thanks for responses.

I paid $375.00 and after observing the process think it was worth it.

I totally agree with you but...

I don't really understand. You have lots of great products but don't do install work yourself? (At least not advertised.)
The local dealer says if I want to use your stuff then I have to buy it and bring in.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that there are some great NSX shops in So.Cal. and IL. I would love to be able to pull up and give 'em the list, $$, and then pick it up later. For many of us, we have to get the parts from great NSX vendors like yourself and then hope to get the best tech at the dealer.

Trust me, when I pull up to a place that is supposed to be good and the guy walks out and says,"Is that a Maaazzzdddaaa?" in his Jeff Foxworthy voice you know it's time to move on.

im sorry about this post it should be a seperate thread but anyway...which headers n exhaust do u guys recommend as i need to start the prep work for the basch supercharger.

Definitely Comptech headers, especially if you plan on running the car with forced induction. Here's a review found here:
http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/exhaust_airflow_products/NSX/headers.asp

Q: What exhaust header is the best for my NSX?
A: The exhaust header handles a tremendous amount of heat. Rigidly mounted to the engine block, it also provides a pivot point between the engine and rest of the exhaust system. These factors place tremendous strain on the headers requiring quality construction. The Comptech and Fujitsubo Exhaust Headers both incorporate modular collector pipes that include a ball-socket joint. The DC Sports header utilizes an accordion-like flex joint. All three systems we sell are of good quality, however, the ball-socket design has shown to be more durable, especially for high-heat applications. Due to this, we recommend the Comptech and Fujitsubo Exhaust Header Systems, especially for forced-induction applications. The Comptech Exhaust Header system is stocked and available directly from ScienceofSpeed at a discount price.

Regards,
