I'm thinking about buying a Taitec Lightweight exhaust and would like to hear from anyone who has one. I think the JGTC would be a little to loud for me. I'm looking for somthing for about the same price, looks and tone, but a little quietier.

Hi!
I believe I replied to a post you had on NSXSC a short time ago about the GT Lightweight I purchased from SoS. I too wanted an increase in volume, but did not want it to be out of control. The GT is perfect! I was actually going to buy to JGTC, even though it was a little louder than I wanted. Chris game me a ride in a customers car equipped with the GT and that’s all it took. To me it seems a quieter than the JGTC, but a little beeper. I love it. No regrets.

The tone is awesome on the lightweight. I have an HKS intake and am going to add the Cantrell AIS. That should give it more of a growl. I've never had another aftermarket exhaust on the car so I couldn't tell you the difference. If you go to www.scienceofspeed.com there are some exhaust note comparsons that may help. But for Bang for the buck I think the Taitec is the way to go.

Thanks everyone for your help. I ordered a GT Parallel Lightweight from SOS yesterday.

That's good to hear. I just bought a '92 and bought the GT Lightweight from SoS a few days later. I tried to install the other night but was foiled by 3 frozen/rusty bolts. I'm going to tackle it over the weekend. I did some video/sound clips of the stock exhaust I will try to post a comparison as soon as I get the exhaust on.

Hi TBone --

Check out Dan's DIY on the exhaust removal, very helpful.
http://www.danoland.com/nsxgarage/nsxgarage.html

On most of the older cars, the nuts and bolts have rusted away, and they must be replaced. To do so, I have removed the cats and taken out the stud bolts with a mallet or press. You can then chuck the rusted stud bolts and nuts into the garbage, and replace them with new stainless hardware (bolt, lock washer, and nut or, purchase new stud bolts and nuts from Honda.

cheers,
-- Chris

I second that, Kenji....I've ridden in his car and the exhaust sounds sooo smooth and nice.....awesome quality and look as well...

I should be recieving mine anyday now.My DC exhaust blew a baffold and makes for quite a racket.I wonder if anyone else has seen exhaust give it up after about 40k miles and or 5 yrs.I'll be talking to DC about this failure.

might want to check out the tubi also. just installed it two-three weeks ago and am very happy. nice throaty sound, a little 'baritone', quieter at higher rpms, and not so loud that it leaves ringing in the ears or would be annoying on long trips. in my opinion, the tubi is 'just right'.

Let us know how you like the exhaust once it's installed.

Richard, you know you'll be the first to know, and thanks again for all the help. And thanks to Chris at SOS for the help and patience he gave me. I can't wait to get it, and will post as soon as it's installed.

Installed mine today.Went on no problems good fit.The construction is high quality and it is light. It has a small muffler compared to stock. The sound w/o cats is nasty,in a good way.It is a whole notch louder than the dc and has a bit of a blatty sound, but not as bad as some rice-rocket exhaust on 4 bangers that sound like giant farts. It has 3 distinct tones as revs clime:rumbling and low like my mugen on the s2k,that blatty sound but only briefly ,then a louder roar that is more pleasing but loud up to redline. Also there is not much sound on decel or throtle lift which is good.Thank-you,Chris.Its nice when you order stock items, quick delivery.

Well I finally recieved my GT Lightweight Thursday and installed it Friday morning. The best $1100 I ever spent. It looks good, sounds great, not too loud, but it's way louder than stock. When I drive now I find myself smiling. Thanks to all for the help!!!
