anybody else have this happen?

i went to get a haircut at a new place the other day. the guy cutting my hair said they'd noticed the car when i drove up. halfway through he had to go get something, and when he came back he said a couple of the ladies working there were arguing that i was a kc chiefs player, but one thought i was a new royals player. the only thing i could think to say was "well neither one will get me to postseason play, will it".

I thought the whole thing was pretty entertaining.

I think it might depend on where you are. When I was living in Oregon and would take a road trip, many times people would approach me with the "Who are you and what do you do?", often with some wild guesses that could be pretty humorous, like yours.

I am about 6'5" so sometimes people would think I was with the TrailBlazers, however crazy that is. I may be 6'5", but I am still a gangly white guy

I am tall in the legs, which the NSX accomodates for nicely, giving me just enough head and leg room to be comfortable.

People who are tall in the torso have a much more difficult time (IME) fitting into the car.

The way I fit in the NSX is one of the things that drew me to it initially, I cannot fit in an S2000 or a Nissan 300Z, or most Ferrari's, etc., no matter what I do, the NSX is a perfect fit

Hey Jonathan your ride is looking pretty cool with new wheels. Where's that pic from? Off to Houston next weekend, good bye Oregon.

BTW I've been mistaken for John Travolta but not because of the NSX. I don't see it myself and think it’s pretty funny. Once in Hawaii my wife and I were in the same hotel as John and his family. We actually ran into each other go back and forth to the pool. Nice guy and was very approachable. At the time he looked more middle aged than me. I think he had just finished the movie Primary Colors. Walking around the hotel I'd get stares every now and then from tourist who you know were at the hotel trying to find John. I can remember thinking man this sucks.

Then I'm in Italy last month and was in Rome visiting a friend the same time John was there too. My friend lives in central roma near the spanish steps so I always walk along via Condotti. My wife is a good-looking blonde too like John's wife. One day we stop in the tearoom and sit in the back room to order coffee. An older grey haired man sitting diagonal from us ask me if I'm John. I say laugh and say no. He just gives me a wink.

So I've been thinking maybe I should just ask John if he needs a decoy because we seem to travel to the same places. John, I'll be in Tuscany and Capri next year, give me call to discuss my fee.

I get asked if I'm in a band a lot. Probably because of the baggy jeans, skate shoes and skate shirts, always listening to Deftones or (Hed) P.E. music as loud as possible. But anyway, is it just me, or do most people just assume that your car cost 90K? It's like people either know that you can get them for high 20's now (very few people), or it's just automatically assumed that your car is 90K (what most people say).

It's definitely the latter, but even more so they have no idea what it cost, but they believe it's a lot, often in excess of $90K, certainly no idea about high 20's (which is still pretty rare).

Hal, I took that pic just outside of Wilsonville on the way to Spirit Mountain.

I said goodbye to Oregon a month ago, it was hard but we are getting along ok down here too

too funny guys. maybe i should bulk up and really try out for the chiefs. or try to reactivate my old fastball---lord knows the royals need it.

at this point theyd probably be happy with a midtohigh 80's fastball. sad but true.

i get that 'isnt that like a 90k something car' a lot. in fact, when my motherinlaw saw it she got a little titterpated and gave my wife that whole routine. god love her, (he'll need to).

A friend of mine in California who knows I drive a black NSX said he was driving in LA one afternoon and a black NSX Targa pulled up next to him at a light. My friend asked the driver to lower his window and said, "Hey, my friend in NYC has the same car." The driver lowered his sunglasses, acknowldged my friend and smiled. The driver turned out to be Robert Redford.
