What is that VIBRATING noise coming from the back?

I've posted about my aspirator fan making noise before, so it's not that.

In first or second gear between 20-25 mph, there is a vibrating noise coming from what seems like the engine. It's like something is loose back there. The sound quickly dissipates at higher speeds though.

I'm thinking:
1. Engine mount may be loose?
2. The fact that I currently don't have a rear valence makes the exhaust vibrate somehow?

discovering things everyday. Amazing machines, aren't they.

sorry, I am no help to your questions, but I am sure there are knowledge people on this board that can help you.

Let me know when you're ready, we should meet up and see the new car.

I'd appreciate it if you guys can take a look at it.

Thursday night I'm free after 6pm. Are you thinking of meeting up at NSXModified? That's a good spot. I was thinking of having Larry take a look at it.

This Saturday morning I'm free until around 3pm.

Let me know.

I came acros somthing like that before after clutch was changed.

There is stainles steel dust cover ring on the driver side axle on the side that connects to the tranny. If this ring came off it will be riding on the axle and on low speeds you will hear somthing spining in the engine bay. There is no major demage to anything just a crapy noise. The dust ring was just riding loose on the axle left and right. Car was lifted and the ring was put in place and the noice went a way for ever.

But you might have a diffrent case, but will not hurt to look at it

Well, I went home during my lunch break to take another test drive. After 20 minutes of driving, I parked it on my driveway and left it idling while I lifted the engine cover. I took a long stick and pressed on the throttle while I was back listening to the engine.

The noise is more rattling than it is vibration. "Rrrrat-tat-tat-tat."
Knocking-n'-pinging?

I hope it's not serious.

You could use your finger and open the throttle body by hand....I had a similar noise but come to find out it was the LED in the spoiler that needed tightening. When was your last valve adjustment?

Several people have reported a tapping sound from the passenger side as coming from the ECU cover.

I had a rattle like that and replaced the vinyl fasteners from the long horizontal trim pannel behind the seats and everything pretty much stopped. My ticking was right at 40 in 2nd gear - predictable as taxes.

well, since the NSX is a two-seater, i guess that eliminates the possibly of a dirty joke here... which is good.

I THINK there are three screws with little covers over them. When I had it in for the service I had Niello tighten them down. It would appear just from the clearance between the spolier and trunk lid that an "L" shaped screwdriver would be needed.
