That link only goes to the thumbnail (tiny version). Here's the full size:

Rob,

I think that is the SRS computer, on top of the cruise control computer, and possibly the remote entry module on the bottom. They are diagrammed in the service manual very well. I am taking mine out today or tomorrow and will let you know for sure.

If you are, it's always a good idea to find out what something is before you remove it from your car.

just curious... if you removed those items.. above.. or the ABS module... etc.. would the ECU detect it and send out an error message of any form?

The idiot lights on the dash will stay on continuously, unless you also remove those lights, or even better, replace your dash with some sort of high tech data logger system like STACK, Pi Research, Motec, etc.

are you 100% sure? My ABS computer is disocnnected and there is no light on the dash, same with TCS...

DanO,

I think they light up when you pull the fuse or unplug certain wiring harnesses. But I was wrong about the TCS computer (not in that picture) as I have both of mine unplugged and there is no light. I may not know what happens with ABS as I may not put the stock dash back in the car.

The remote entry/security system is on the bottom, but it is not pictured... The car wouldnt start without it.

Yes... Im turning it into a GT-2 race car, I just wanted to know what I was removing.

Plans are to use an aftermarket engine management system. But I would like to experiment with the stock ABS.

The light would likely come on if I hade a stock gauge cluster... or even a dash. The light isnt all that you guys have to worry about, when the system detects something wrong- it goes into a safe mode, and runs richer (likely with less timing).
