What do you guys think of this picture I am working on? I want to put it at the beach, but I'm not sure where to put the shoreline. Also thinking of adding another girl, maybe a towel over her shoulders, too.

I'll probably also put in some palm trees and such... it will look like Santa Monica, I guess.

Any comments/suggestions?

Oh, yeah, the paper is much wider than the scanned image, so there's plenty of room on both sides.

Also, if you can think of any vanity plate that can describe both the girl and the car, feel free to suggest.

Somehow it seems to me that the shoreline should be right at her hands. This line is roughly at the center of the car and other places of interest.

Nice pic.

Good eye. For those of you who may not pick up on it, the girl and the car are metaphores for each other.

The "rear-end" of both the car (not the differential) and the girl say the same thing. I tend to think that if the NSX were alive, it would be female.

My serious response...

> What do you guys think of this picture I am working on?

Good Work. Nice rear-end (the car i mean!)

> I want to put it at the beach, but I'm not sure where to put the shoreline.

I would suggest the shoreline being in the area beneath her hands... but make the depth of field shallow so the beach/sky BLUR together in a gradient. This would add depth to the picture overall.

> Also thinking of adding another girl, maybe a towel over her shoulders, too.

Personally, no. keep it minimal. one girl; one car. two girls and one car may suggest something sexual which only distracts from the NSX.

Oh.... there are already two girls ... the chick and the NSX! i mistake! *lol*

I don't think you need anything on the lady's bikini bottom. You naturally make the connection with the woman and the vehicle via the license plate. Written messages on bikini bottoms are like bumper stickers on the NSX. Garrish.
Nice concept.

I agree with the general concensus so far (esp. not having writing on the swimsuit) but want to make one minor geeky suggestion - as sketched, the tires are too wide. They should be maybe 2/3 as wide.

Suggestion:

If you're trying to add to the sensuality of the moment with the wine glass in her hand maybe the other hand could be holding a pair of high heels. She could be wearing a see-through nightee over her bikini as if she was about to enjoy a stroll along the beach after a nice candlelight dinner.

Otherwise, stick a book in her hand, throw a towel over her shoulder, and put a hat on her head. (She's too pale to be out in the sun without one.)

I would definitely agree with the one car one girl.
I also agree that the shore line should be below her hands or better yet, a tad bit below the wine glass. Just imagine a drop of wine falling, just leaving the glass and and touching the shore line. Go with your feelings; You have gotten this far.

And yes, the tires are too drag racing car like (WIDE).

Is that a wineglass in her hands? I thought it was a set of keys with a big 'A' for Acura!!! *lol* Wineglass is nice effect though.

i disagree with the width; lower the car slightly. A shadow under the car would make the wheels stand out less (and hence look too wide)

sounds very elegant, but also like something from a Bond film. But i like that. ;-)

I'm not sure what the artist is going for here, but if he is going for a realistic stock NSX, it shouldn't be any lower and the tires shown are much wider than stock by about 1/3. It's a simple matter of the width of the tires compared to the width of the rest of the car.

If you want to get picky, the car in the sketch measures about 255 pixels wide on my screen and the tires are around 60 pixels each, meaning each tire is just under 25% the width of the car.

A real NSX is about 1800mm wide and stock rear tires are 245mm wide, meaning each tire is about 14% the width of the car.

If you knocked the tires in the sketch down by 1/3 to 40 pixels, they would be about 15 or 16 percent of the width of the car, which is pretty close to stock considering I just threw the 1/3 number out there in my first message and didn't measure anything.

If he wants a stylized NSX, the wider tires looks fine, I was just pointing out that they are much wider than stock.

Obviously those are the new Kumho 435/20-18s mounted on 18x17 Sprewell spinners. Probably requires a little work with the fender liners

That's what I thought it was, too.

No, it isn't. It would make the picture seem like an endorsement of drinking and driving.

I really do not see the "drink & drive" connection. It is clear that the NSX is not owned by the girl. They are both man's possessions...

I know half a dozen women who enjoy their NSXs and I'm sure all would disagree with you.

Also, this NSX is clearly owned by the fairer sex, as noted by its license plate.

I did never say that woman do not drive NSXs, I was saying that this poster is quite testosterone filled and that both the two objects (sorry to women for this

) are men's possessions. Most likely she will never drive that car...

IMO, the rear wheels do look too wide. The car looks like it's had the rear end narrowed and set up for drag racing, aka "tubbed". Other than that...very nice! Let us know how it turns out.

...now nsxtacy mention's the drink/driving, i can see the connection too. i think the acura key's would be a better (and wiser) choice.

The wineglass runs the risk of appearing 'cliche' ... one other negative aspect.

naaman: any chance of posting an updated sketch with adjusted tires?

naaman, I checked you other drawings in the same directory as this poster. You are very talented! I read tons of comics and I see you are quite trained... did you ever publish something? What do you want to do with the poster, any chance of a final verison we can order?

Hey, guys. Okay, it is an Acura Keychain. I placed it roughly paralelle with the Acura logo on the car so as to imply that the car does belong to the girl.

The width of the tires was just what I put down not having a visual reference, just drew the car out of my head. I like wide tires, but I guess I exaggerated a little bit too much.

As of now, the sketch has been cleaned up, and all of the stray lines are now gone. There is a little bit of rendering. I may be able to post the current picture this weekend.

What do you guys think I should do: put the car in a parking stall, or just have it parked "off road"? How civilized should the setting be?
