The little plastic cover broke off my driver's side window switch. The switch under it still functions normally, it just looks ungly. Is it possible to just replace this piece or do I need to buy the whole assembly (All I see in the parts catalog is the whole thing and it costs like $150)

.

Also, my driver's side window rolls up slowly and makes a popping noise. I've seen posts about the regulator failure in the older cars, but mine is a 94 and doesn't fall within the catagory. Will the window fix-it thingy work or do I need to lube it per the TSB or what? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

I have a 93 and my drivers window is slow too. Its not the "lil fix it things," but the motor I believe. When I had my door panels off, we lubed the window tracks and it helped. But I thinks its just the regulator getting old? The problem with the earlier NSX's was that a little plastic piece would snap and cause something to ruin the regulator and dropping the window in the door and not having any control over it. So in turn, you wouldnt be able to roll up the window. Do I make any sense??!?

hendu,

What year is your car. If it is an early one, you need to install the "window Fix-it thingies NOW. I would recommend you not use the window until you fix it. If the wire window regulator breaks you will go for big bucks!!

Maybe your window guides are not adjusted properly and the window is binding even after a proper lube?? Just a thought.

Larry, how can I check to see if the guides are not properly adjusted? Or is it something I can play with to get right?
Thanks, I never thought of that.....

He said it's a '94.

It's in the "Body" section of your service manual.

Had the same ? about the window switch a while back. Someone wrote they can be had off the old Acura Legends..year???. Its the outer piece right? I plan to call a few junk yards in the spring, If I find 2 I'll send you one.
Had the slow driver window problem as well. Got in there and lubed the heck out of the front and rear window guides, window regulator cables, white plastic thing, basically every moving part I saw for the window got the KY treatment if ya know what I mean.
Hint you may want to fix both these things at the same time for I wish I had. Figure the more you take something apart the more chance for rattles. just my o.
Good luck

Thanks John,

Yes I was planning on doing both at the same time. I'll be scrounging the yards for that button and if I find a second one I'll do the same. Also, what did you use to lubricate the parts, white lithium grease?

YUP, I was going to use the Honda high temp urea grease, but dealers where out of stock on it when I needed it, talked to a few mechanics and they all said white Li is OK.
Thanks and good luck

Take a close look at the size of the opening in the plastic surrounding the button, compared to the opening on the other side of the car.

The plastic panel that surrounds the switch, door air vents, etc is what holds the switch cover in place. There is a spring underneath it pushing it up against the panel. It looks like over time the switch wears against the panel, causing the opening to grow larger, until it's large enough for the switch cover to pop out.

On my car, the plastic panel is what broke, so replacing the switch cover won't do any good until the plastic vent/switch panel is replaced. The Legend may use the same switch with the little spring-loaded cover, but I doubt it uses the same vent panel. But if I'm wrong, I'd love to hear about it, since I haven't replaced mine yet either.

I'm on a mission bumping old threads today... although I seem to have a perfectly functioning window regulator (knock wood) the switch cap on my driver's side window is also MIA. The prices for the whole new switch these days are comical. Assuming that the vent panel is still snug enough to hold the switch in place, I don't suppose anyone knows a source for just the caps?

Cheers,
N
