Has anyone done it. I have heard that the 2002 emblem does not align with the holes of the 2001 & under models. Help please because i'am about to order one. Thanks a-lot.

The pins do not align - cut them off & just use the adhesive on the emblem to secure it, positioning it to cover the holes in the bumper cover.
Now getting the old one off - that's a whole other story. The clips on the backside of the pins are impossible to get to w/o removing the bumper - I saw one posting that suggested you could pry it up enough to cut the pins off & just let them fall inside, but I don't think I'd be doing that to my car!!!

I did it on mine! ...and it worked... the old pins falled off from the other side.

Installing the new one is quite easy as D'Ecosse described.

I like the look of the '02 emblem a lot more than the old one... it gives a kind of "luxury" status to the car!

Really? Refresh my memory, what's different about it appearance-wise?

It's open (metal for the elements of the logo, open space in between them).

It's worth noting that at the time the NSX first came out, open logos like this were used on inexpensive cars (e.g. Civic), and solid logos (a badge that fills in the areas between the elements) like the original NSX logo were on expensive cars.

How about that, you learn something new everyday! Very interesting. Thanks for the info, nsxtasy!

nsxstasy, that could be true but what I like most of the '02 is that it is less intrusive in the whole look/color of the car and it gives you that "shine" in the front that really stands up under sun or lights...

Here's another story about the emblems on early '91 NSXs.

When the first NSXs were coming off the assembly line in '90, the Acura emblem had a slight design change. There were just the two calipers on the emblem but Soichiro Honda wanted a small horizontal bar connecting the calipers (the emblem now looks like an H in disguise). All NSXs that were not shipped yet had the emblems replaced with the updated ones and any that were shipped were to have the updated emblems installed by the selling dealerships before customer delivery.

As many of you know, my NSX is all Honda. When I was about to remove my front Acura emblem, I was told about clips holding in the emblem from underneath the bumper. I loosened the adhesive with some fishing line and the emblem popped off easily. There were no clips holding the emblem, just the adhesive.

My '91 NSX is #991 and was one of the cars that had the emblem changed to the updated one. That's why mine popped off so easily. I heard others who changed their emblems on their NSXs with higher VIN numbers had to either remove the bumper to get the clips off or carefully saw off the pins.

Years ago, a mail list member had posted a message stating he had one of the original Acura emblems without the horizontal bar between the two calipers. He worked for an Acura dealership in Canada and said that a few cars arrived at the dealership with the original emblem and were told by Honda to change the emblems to the updated ones before selling the car. He kept one and wasn't going to part with it. A unique piece of Honda history.

Vytas's story is mostly right, except for the numbers. Only about 30 NSXs were produced and shipped with the original logo without the cross-piece. They were about to be introduced at a major auto show in 1990 when Mr. Honda ordered the change in the logo before any cars went on sale. Some of Honda's top executives were feverishly working on replacing the logos at the last minute before the introduction, which took place around September 1, 1990.

It's highly doubtful that NSX #991 (which would have been built in October or November 1990) would have had the original logo at any time.

Interesting. I wonder why my emblem came off so easily then? I inspected it and there isn't any evidence of clips holding the emblem since I see no scrape marks on the emblem pins. As I was breaking up the adhesive with the fishing line and got nearly 1/2 way through, the emblem was already popping up. I know that the two prior owners never messed with the emblem before. The first owner was a car collector and the second said he never had the emblem removed before.

First time I've seen a nose to nose comparison between the 2002 and prior models.

You guys don't think the nose of the newer car looks WAY more aggressive/stylish than the old one ???

NSX-GUY, I'm pretty sure the nose comparison has been done before. Of course it's personal preference, but I like the original design much more and find the updated nose to be on the ugly side. YMMV.

According to the responses in this previous topic, over 80 percent prefer the '91-01 front over the '02+ front, while only 38 percent prefer the '91-01 rear over the '02+ rear.

a while back I came across the original emblem on ebay. I was going to win the bid but decided not to..now I wish I did for the sake of just having it!

Those who have not seen the original Acura logo (without the horizontal cross-piece) might want to take a look at the six-minute video that Acura gave first-year NSX buyers. It includes several close-ups of the front logo and it is quite obvious that it was filmed before the decision was made to add the cross-piece.

You can download the video here; it's the one shown as "1991 NSX introduction video from Acura".

Anyone know the part # for the 2002 Front Emblem.

If it's the same as the clearrear logo, it's 75701-SL0-A01. I have an unopened one and I'm considering either using it or the Carbon Fiber one.
