Just a request to all of you to please help keep an eye out for my car. It was stolen near Koreatown in Los Angeles. It's a black/black 93 with a UCLA alumni license plate frame with 4TBL294 plate # and gunmetal Volk rims. If you see this vehicle on the road, please tail it for me and call the police for me. I would greatly appreciate it, although at this point, I'm not sure if I'm going to want it back. Thanks so much for the help guys, I feel like I just had a child abducted or something.

My contact # is 310.266.1303 if you need to contact me.

Damn!

I'll keep an eye out for sure!
Sorry.

Darkcyd,

Very sorry to hear. Good luck on finding her, but you might be correct, maybe you do not want to.

Vincent,

Might be a good idea to post the cross street or address of the location, where your car was stolen.

Stay calm
and call me if you have any ?

Thanks for the offer to help btw, it is very much appreciated.

I'll do that when the insurance companies start making it cost effective.

First, my insurance agent quoted me on the portion that covers theft, and while I don't remeber the exact amount, it was next to insignificant. Something like $60 per year.

Second, it has been a few years, but I checked with a few police departments around here about Lojack just after I had a Suburban stolen. They told me (at the time) that there were no police departments in St. Louis that used the Lojack system, making a consumer purchase worthless. Seem right?

Sorry to hear about that, man....that really stinks. I hope everything turns out well for you.

Sorry to hear this. A professional group tried to steal my first one when I lived in Europe. Cops said they were going to export it via container.

I'll keep an eye out in Ventura/Santa Barbara area.

Damn, sorry to hear about your loss. I hope they catch those punks, and send 'em to Iraq to get their hands chopped off!

Thanks for the support guys. I dunno if it's totally sunk in yet that my baby is gone. It's kind of surreal ya know? Almost like it just went on vacation.

I had driven it to work just like I usually do and parked it on the same street that I always park it on. So potentially it's someone in the neighborhood who'd seen the car on a regular basis. Anyhow, I parked it in the morning and went into the office. Came out with my coworkers for lunch and as we were driving down the street, I just realized that I hadn't noticed my car. And I always notice my car as I can't not take a glance at it every chance I get. So they pulled around to take a look and sure enough, it was gone. Called the police, filed a report, now just waiting.

If I ever get the car back or get a new one, I am definitely getting one of those alarms that pages you with status if someone is tampering with your car.

Sorry to hear about your recent loss. How long until insurance gives you fair market value? Hope you are overly compensated if it comes to that.

Sorry to hear about what happened. Check to see if any security cameras are in the area.

Great suggestion. I have one of those two way paging alarm and Lojack. So far so good.

Has anyone looked into the growing number of vehicle tracking systems that combine a GPS with a cell phone service and then allow you to actually track your car on the internet?
Some of these are 'passive' and just record where the car has been and then you download the data into your PC later but some are 'active' and can show the location of the vehicle in real time.

Some of them appear to be oriented towards owners of fleet vehicles who may want to know where their vehicles are many times a day but I've come across a couple which appear to only charge for air time once your vehicle has been stolen.

I used Google a few days ago and I think I searched on 'vehicle locator' and got lots of hits but haven't had time to wade through them all and sort into types.

Sorry to hear about the theft of your car. I know how it feels as two cars were stolen in the past. There's nothing like the feeling of not seeing your car where you left it.

Did you notice any glass on the ground where your car was parked? Since there's not a high demand for NSX parts like there is for Accord's and Camry's, your car was either targeted by joy riders, or someone specificaly needed NSX parts.

BTW, even if you had LoJack, your car would still have been stolen. The only difference is thaat you may have gotten word already on it's discovery and damage. Like mentioned before, one of the best anti-theft devices is a kill switch. Not only do I have one switch, but two! If you can find them it was because I either showed you or you installed them. So, if someone really wants my car they have to flatbed it away. Furthermore, if someone is going to go through all that effort they can keep it.

Good luck and hopefully you'll have a new NSX very shortly.

I am sorry to hear it. I have been in your shoes 3 times. All in LA.

Sure is hard to read about the recent damage done by vandals, and now this.

Watch the Recycler and ebay. I am sure we all will.

Darkcyd,

so so so sorry to hear that, as I have loved your wheels, tint, exhaust, ..etc. and this is just angers me to hear that a fellow NSXer's car has been violated. I hope the situation will turn out for the best, and justice served to those that committed the crime. I like to see them dipped into a big tank of anthrax or something similar.

BTW this is somerthing which bothers me today. I remember theres a dealership which that if you give them the Vin # and then will mail the key to you to your doors.. If I say if someone has someone's vin... he can have the key cutted and drive the car away as if its his car...

I dont think it will happen.. but it is a way to steal a car...

That really sucks. I hope the find the people that did this and deal with them swiftly. I remember walking out of a mall one time and not being able to find my Porsche, turns out I forgot where I parked it. It gives you an empty feeling in your stomach. Really sorry to hear it.
