Almost all the other areas have new posts in them except this one.... why are we so lame in the south?? Surely we can think of something cool to talk about!

Okay I'm moving from the NW to SC. That should be big news because the whole region will be considered going down hill!

Once NSXPO is behind me, I'm going to try and step things up in the region a bit. I stepped in as the Southcentral Representative about a month or two ago, following my NSXCA webmaster appointment a couple of months before that. Unfortunately, I have been too involved with NSXPO planning to do very much. There has been a lot of "turnover" in NSXCA representation in this region lately, which has detracted from the region's representative to the NSXCA from being able to focus on membership and events. I hope to turn this around.

We do have an annual event, NSteXpo, which is like a "mini" NSXPO. This past year, we had 35+ cars and about 40-45 people attend here in Dallas, as well as certain vendors from San Diego and Phoenix (MJ and MB, respectively). I expect this event to be in Dallas from now on, as the organizers all live here now.

We do have some very active "track junkies", but likely not enough to make a dedicated NSX track event possible financially. We generally attend other club's events (PCA, BMWCCA, etc.) or enter "public" events organized by The Driver's Edge, which operates events at Texas World Speedway, Motorsport Ranch and Texas Motor Speedway. For more information on The Driver's Edge (which a couple of us also instruct for), visit:
http://www.thedriversedge.net/

In Dallas, we have a monthly gathering of owners the first Wednesday of each month at a local Starbucks at 7:30PM (N. MacArthur Blvd @ TX-114 (not I-635) location in Irving). November's gathering is being pre-empted by NSXPO, but if you're willing to drive the 600 mile round trip, you're welcome to attend! (you ARE attending NSXPO, right?)

I'm also the only nominee on the ballot for official election to the Southcentral Region Representative position for the next term. Makes me feel like a certain Iraqi "president" a bit, but in this case people are free to write in another name on the ballot. I think that I'm going to have to start my "campaign" this weekend. :) The point is that I'll be continuing this role after NSXPO, and do have it in my plans to both run some membership drives and organize some social and driving events.

For people in the region who took the time to read this, please feel free to contact me with any suggestions you have for getting our region more active. We do have a small budget to work with, and I know I can leverage our teXpo and NSXPO sponsorship contacts to help us bring some activities to fruition.

Some group driving on the weekend would be nice.

I met some nice S2000 club members last week in Dallas. How about a joined event?

I'm just waiting for the rain to stop. So far I've seen more rain here in Texas than what I saw in Oregon is a year. So if having a meeting in Austin will stop the rain I might have to get another NSX.

Im putting together a small NSX meet on the lakefront in New Orleans again. So far there will 8 of us. If you'd like to join in, just drop me an email and i'll put you on the notification list. That way, you'll get all the details when they're finalized.
