Aftermarket Stereo Ideas

I know there have been topics on CD changers and wanting more bass, but I need help with the whole enchilada.

I am shopping around for a new sound system for my NSX and have a few questions.
Are the factory speakers in the doors 5 1/4" or 6 1/2". I plan to change out the head, add an amplifier, and replace the door speakers and the sub in the passenger footwell. Also, I would love to see how others have customized their center console in order to accommodate an aftermarket head unit. I would greatly appreciate any ideas, pics, or set-ups that have been tried/used.

I have had many quality audio systems in previous vehicles to know how poor the Bose system sounds, (IMO), in the NSX not to mention the poor radio reception I get around town. (Automotive tuners have come a long way since 1993). I know some of you out there swear by this factory arrangement but for those of you who feel my pain and can relate to my frustrations maybe you have ideas which will help me come up with the perfect set-up.

If yo ulook at my pictures (94NSXGUY) you will see what I did in my 94. I cut out the stock unit and changed it with an Alpine Deck and Alpine EQ. Behind my friver seat I have a 200watt amp and behind the passanger seat is the power for the ex and a Bass box with 10 inch sub. This system sounds excellent. The only problem is, it kills 5 inches plus on the passanger seating.
