New forum for Forced Induction?

Show of hands.. who wants to split it off into it's own forum, who wants to keep status quo?

I'm definitely in favor (Lud, I bet you never would have guessed this).

Originally I was hoping for a turbo forum; there are a variety of topics to discuss about turbo setups (some, but not all of which overlaps with superchargers) including:

- Intercoolers (air/air, air/water, differences they've made, cost, installation & placement, etc)

- Fuel (new systems like the Greddy Emanage, additional injector controls, injector sizing, fuel pump boosters, AFPR's, etc)

- Turbo responsiveness tweaks (header wrap, exhaust piping & muffler sizing, boost controllers)

- Intake customizations (ways to get more cold air in for TT applications (the SC-guys don't appear to have problems with this))

- Boost levels including the boost curve across the RPM band

- Cams for forced induction setups

Plus there are some SC-specific topics, such as "How far in front of me were the taillights of that twin turbo NSX?" (GRIN!)

That's just off the top of my head. With all the posts on the existing forums (main + technical) it makes it very tough to focus & find ones related to forced induction tech talk, and in particular to really hook up with others who have a similar setup to yours to share the knowledge. I don't feel it's easy to really get all the turbo guys "in one room/on one topic" and I really miss that.

I don't know how big an issue this is for the SC guys since there's a bigger install/information base, but for us turbo folks (which there are now several of on NSXPRime) it seems difficult to find each other and focus on topics.

Conversely, what's the harm in having a dedicated forum -- what have we got to lose by trying? Worse comes to worse, the activity is too low and after a while the forum gets shut down.

That's my thoughts, for what it's worth.

Marc

My $0.02 Lud .......

Personally, I like the different forum headings so a certain forum does not get overloaded with way too many posts. Andrie is probably right that forced induction/turbo belongs in the technical section ........

But the problem that I have noticed, which may be addressed perhaps before is, there should be a menu option where one can jump from one forum topic *say General Discussion) to the next forumr topic (say NW Region) rather than continuously going back to the forum listsings and clicking on the next forum of interest. Way too much of back and forth unless I have missed a trick! Can this be done with a singal click?

HRANT,

At the end of each post click on the "Hop to" button. It should take you to any of the forums.

This is just a pipe dream...but I would like the topic to have 2 titles: whatever the topic starter called it and...what the dominant topic of conversation has been (I have seen many "Hi, I am new" topics transform into a 50 post reply on "turbocharging"). All this would require is the forum moderator to read all threads and re-name where necessary.

Again, I know this is just a pipe dream (ie. impossible).

I'm for a seperate forum.

Hi LUD,

I am in favor of a "forced induction" area in that there is much more of a need to compare boost, fuel, dyno, electronics, and much more with each other. I have learned so much from fellow members and have found this information invaluable!

A good example would be how "vauge" the Bell TT system is! Corky cant even get his own product working for his customers! I cant understand why he still includes his "Link" system when all that I have spoken to have had no success with it. The sad thing is, there are people out there with the TT kit that do not know other possible solutions to this problem. Be it the Haltech, Greddy Rebic. HKS, etc.

I can see a benefit to the forum due to all of "us" depending on one another for information. I also would not want to limit this area to just "turbo" only as I have learned much from fellow SC owners too! -Especially on how bad they feel when I whoop on them with my TT.

MB would kill me if he saw that!

Anyhow, thanks for the opportunity and open mind of possibly opening this forum.

Thanks Lud! I'm sure the new Forced Induction/Nitrous forum will do great.

I probably need tell it to re-build the old threads. I'll try it sometime this weekend.
