Question about the post counter

Hey I was wondering how that thing works. When I post (for example #10) in topic #1, my post counter says 10, however if I add another reply to that same topic #1, the post counters for my login in that topic increase to 11. However, if I post in topic #2, the counter in topic #2 says 12, but in topic #1 still says 11. Does it only refresh the counts within a topic when you post to that topic? Just wondering...

Yes, it refreshes a topic only when someone (you or anyone else) posts to it.


The reason is - the data is actually stored in one file, and the system generates the HTML from that file everytime something changes in a thread.

So every time someone posts, it generates a new HTML file which will indicate whatever your current # of posts are at the time it's generating the HTML.
