Michigan check-in & spotting by blodi pt.2

Sorry to hear the car is gone! But curious to see what you replace it with.

Does anyone in the area have a Pride V2 exhaust with resonated pipes? I would like to check something.

I just put a Pride V2 on my car. By resonated pipes, do you mean just the normal Pride V2 and not the "super loud" variant? I'm happy to let you check it out

I am the heathen. I am in MI, car is in NY.

So it is true. I caught wind of a certain red NSX in the shop for a PPI over a week ago -- no worries I'm sure all of your NSX buddies are still your friends!

I am not a heathen yet. However, I am in MI but my car is in Canada -- won't have the Red Princess back in time for Cars and Coffee this coming weekend.

Best,
Jeff

Thank you ! It was a pretty long drawn out process with the previous owner. He was unwilling to compromise on a lot of details during the purchase that made my life that much harder! It sure was worth it though. I had a blast this weekend around hocking hills !
That sounds good, I would love to meet the crew in the metro area. Do you guys meet every Wednesday ?
Ravi -

Congratulations to you following your lengthy NSX search and welcome aboard! Kind of wondered whether you were still hunting, standing down, otherwise occupied.... now we know! She looks NICE!!

CJ's Weds 445 pm through usually 715 pm (or so) and of course, all are welcome to join us. Please stop in. Look for the "church pew" table in the rear of the main room. Right now the weather-guessers are guessing "iffy" and un-settled weather w/a good chance of storms Weds afternoon. Might be a better time to drive the daily appliance.

Does anyone know who that Zinardi from Royal oak belonged to ? I was surprised when the new owner posted about picking her up from here

Jeff, another wind indicated to me a northern adventure for the Red Princess. BTW, Where do you go for "Cars and Coffee?"

I am looking for something that are excellent, which is Fun to Drive. and that's the 411 on the 911!

They are having the cars and coffee in Birmingham this Sunday on Wiltis street from 10-12 from what I heard. Only exotics no muscle heads.

PJR, I was referring to Toledo C&C. Yeah, she fancies Rob but I'm not jealous yet.

Whoa, do we need to talk about a fractional ownership arrangement? I'm only half kidding here -- PM me if you want to talk.

Wow, apparently my reply with quote skills are quite lacking -- sorry!

Aaaarrgh, you must have caught a real dandy offer to move it this quick :frown:

Ravi the Zanardi was owned by the director of the Detroit Zoo. He had owned it for a long period of time, + other nice sports cars. As far as I/(we?) know, it was the only Zanardi remaining in Michigan. Sad to see it move out of state, as well.

Since Bob nabbed an Evora, maybe you guys should get a Cayman S so we can all check out the 'modernized NSX' experience along with you.

I have not driven a Cayman but I've sat in one -- I know this is petty but I found it very claustrophobic. The NSX felt positively huge in comparison and I'm not that big a guy. Thinking has lots to do with the beltline/window area -- lots in NSX not so much in Cayman. I am open to trying one though or a 911. Very strange -- I have mentioned to my wife that perhaps sell NSX and move into a P-car and she is opposed to that but not on economic grounds -- she's only been in the car twice in the 6 years I have owned it so I suspect that although she shows little interest she must understand the rarity and special nature of the NSX.

No worries about my NSX -- all hoses being done now (after 21 years and they still look good but of course changing nonetheless for obvious reasons) thus I must keep car another 21 years to amortize the cost -- LOL.

PJR, seriously, best of luck in your search for another fun car!

Best,
Jeff

Neal - you planning on heading down to Toledo tomorrow AM? I'm up for a caravan down from A2. Anyone else?

Hey Dave I sent you an e-mail at about 11 p last night - sorry, couldn't do the Toledo run this morning. Maybe next month?

I think I might visit Baker's around 4 pm this afternoon 'cause it will likely be my last opportunity for Baker's this fall...

I may sneak by baker's for a bit. Have to leave early though. I am game for Toledo next month too!

Red Princess returning weekend of October 3. I am thus game for Toledo in October. Patrick, why do I have the feeling that you will have a new toy for the Death Run to Toledo?

Evil plans underway. I have been speaking in coded messages. But more to come!

things I learned this weekend

1) I love this car

2) if the top is off and the windows are down, any piece of paper will instantly fly out of the car

3) if you keep your gas receipts in the console and open it while driving, well, see previous item

4) everything in the trunk gets really hot

5) 80mph = 2.2L x 4100ish rpm (s2000) = 3.2L x 3300ish rpm (nsx) = 28ish mpg either way, hmmm there is more than one way to peel an apple and get the same result, although having the longer range between stops is really nice

6) when it starts to rain the s2000 guys just slow down, flip a switch (all have modified cars so they don't have to put the parking brake on) and zap, top up, while I stop at the side of the road, pull levers and push buttons and run around the car and put the top on in record time only to look over at all of them staring and going "are you finally ready"

7) it's 90% driver, ok, I actually kind of knew this one but it was reinforced, when I drove the s2000 I couldn't keep up with the fast guys in s2ks on twisty roads, in the nsx I can catch up some in the straights but still can't hang with them in the corners, although I'm getting better

8) when on the freeway and it starts to mist a little you won't get wet, if the mist instantly changes to a downpour, it's too late and you're soaked

9) everything looks good in yellow

10) other than first gear, if you're near redline you are breaking all kinds of traffic laws

11) did I mention I really really love this car :)

^^^ Wow Bob, way to represent at the Dragon!

For the record though, our S2000 hasn't been modified to operate the top without the parking brake being engaged........so once stopped it takes a whole 6 seconds in either direction ;^D

I have a set of stock wheels you can borrow, to get the look of their LOGO car ;-P

Shelby Township isn't exactly convenient though!

Well, after 9 and a half years of ownership and almost 30K miles logged.....I finally got pulled over :p
I hit it 1st 2nd and into 3rd on the only part of my commute where I can open it up which happens to be right in front of the building I work in.
I was waiting to turn left into my parking lot when a car pulled up behind me and right as a looked and thought "is that a spot light?" boom, he lit me up. State Trooper.
Pulled into my parking lot now embarrassed at the spectacle all my coworkers would see.
He came up..."what's going on?"
"Sorry, was blowing off a little steam there"
"Thats ok, you work here?"
"Yeah, I do."
"Ok, I just wanted to tell you cool car man. That's the only reason I stopped you. I don't care about the driving fast. Have a good day!"

That's awesome ryan, I haven't been pulled over yet in my s2000 or nsx, knock on wood.

In college I drove a yellow vette convertible and got pulled over a bunch and got tickets!!! every freaking time except once. I got nailed for speeding and not having my insur papers, not changing my driver's lic the day I was moving, expired plates 3 days after my birthday, etc...

Anyone up for a Toledo run this Sunday? Weather looks good.

Are the weather-guessers talking 73 F and sunny Sunday with zero % chance of precip? Car is dirty and will be that way but I'm ready for
the death march to Toledo. Meet 8 am at Park-N-Ride SW corner US-23 and Plymouth Road A2? Depart 8:15 A?
