Michigan check-in & spotting by blodi pt.2

:frown: Looks like Michigan is losing an NSX -

Anyone know who is selling?

Hey Poet X, sorry about that..... we were staying at a condo in Cadillac, MI, so were only in T.C. for an afternoon. Visited the North Peak, then wandered over to LoveFab's new location, then back down to Cadillac. Got in some early season golf at a couple of really nice golf courses!

Glad you had a good time!

Next time you are in the area, drop me a PM. I'm always happy to catch up with anyone from Prime.

:)

We had a battery problem last week, resulting in a no-start.
It turns out that the battery had plenty of power, but the connection on the Negative side was worn to the point that even with the cable end clamp tightened all the way it still didn't grip the post adequately.
There are lead battery post shims made to fix this problem, so we ordered a pair (Schumacher) for about $6 including shipping.
Since this apparently isn't all that rare a problem with NSX's I figured I would post about it, so here's a picture of it installed.

^ I only had my X for a few weeks or months before we had that meet i went to and was unable to start my NSX. Didn't you stay back and help me? Thanks for doing so. This was one of the issues along with a loose quick disconnect on the neg term.. Now tho i have to jump start her every time even after running for awhile.. I believe my battery is dead it always holds just enough juice to just barely turn it but just not enough to start. Edit: and btw I will have some "semi pro" pics done of my new DD 08 SI here in a few days. An old friend and I are doing a group shoot with his 2door SI (mines 4).

Yep, that was me.............both you and Ryan before me had similar issues making me think there will be others that will encounter the same problem.
Because he's such a smart@zz, I kinda hope it's 'nickolas421' :wink::wink::wink:

Here is my new DD. It's pretty fun car to drive and good MPG. The X and SI look nice together

Thanks. Didn't know they had these, I guese no more copper wire wrap to make my own shim.
Ryan, hope everything works out. Just remember, the GFCP is REALLY a bad habit. Hoping to get my car back by mid-May, still working on radiator, brakes, battery shim:smile: and then back to Cody for engine and turbo, if anyone is looking for a built motor:wink:, let me know.

It may be time to replace the clutch in my stock 92 NSX. Any recommendations (or non-recommendations) of which Acura service shop to use in Michigan. Anybody have an aftermarket clutch? Thanks.

Where are you located?

My first thought is to see if Mike would like to do it.......

I have a spare ACT clutch set, but it's surely overkill for a non-boosted car.

Thanks for the response.

I'm in the Bay City / Saginaw area. I'm leaning towards OEM but I'm curious what others have done and what their experiences have been.

I've gotten a few quotes for parts and labor from Michigan Acura dealers. Interestingly, the labor can be 2x different.

You are not far from Cody at Lovefab so I would give him a call. I have had stock, the RPS single and now the RPS/SOS carbon-carbon. The carbon-carbon is as soft as stock but will hold all of the power you throw at it. The engagement is pretty abrupt. The RPS single had a very smooth engagement but was very stiff. I sold it to Blodi and I expect to see him look like Popeye:biggrin: just kidding but it is stiff. Unless you are going to consider boosted power in the future, I would stick with stock. You never know, Cody may have some lying around.

If its anything like Brian and Judi's RPS in the beast, I know what to expect. Bree's learning curve may get a bit steeper..

Just dropped off the new coupler to the shop this morning and my TB should be done today. I'm hoping to get it overnighted back so I can put everything back together tomorrow night and be able to put a few test miles on the car before heading up to TC this weekend. I'm dying to know what my final numbers will be!

Ryan,

I have a car coming for dyno this Saturday. Its going to be a scramble of a day. I will have one of my Tech's here to help me out, as he's great with Mechanicals.

Worst-case scenario, you can drop the car and leave it, and I can re-deliver when I head down to service Al's car later next week.

Such are the joys of mad-scrambles. This week, ship Brian's kit, build two motors, and install one of them.

Sleep when dead....

Glad to see you so busy Cody, business must be good. I saw the ADV1 rims you are getting for Pikes Peak on FB, congrats on all the sponsors. Can't wait to see what the NSX will look like.

Emailed......I think we can work it out......

No sleeping or dying because you are TOO young and I need my car done by Midwest NSX dinner in Chicago:biggrin:. I wish some of the rest of you would go. It isn't far and a nice time to meet other enthusiasts.

NSX Pilot, you must be Troy. A joy talking with you. As you can see, I have my hands full with these Michiganders....

Some words of advice...don't ride in a turbo NSX. Ever. ;)

I was thinking that he would like to ride in mine:biggrin: Troy, take a big hit on the GFCP and just get the carbon-carbon clutch, feels like stock and you won't every have to worry about the next hit. Ask Cody, he will tell you about my addiction:redface:

Got the Noble back today, 500 rwhp and 2400 lbs, so smooth and so fast.

Tim, you're welcome to our spare battery post shim (PM me where you would like me to ship it).

Ryan already knows about the PLS (Popeye Leg Syndrome), and I think he's up for it!

I'm up for it! I get pretty used to the clutch in the purple beast and then feel like my clutch is broken when I get back into my car.
Cody and I delayed our rendezvous 3 weeks so that I have more time to actually get the car put back together and make sure everything is good on it and then he has more time to do all the other work/tune. Got the new supercharger couplers in and installed. Gonna finish up re installing the supercharger setup and throttle body this weekend then the car will at least be back and drive-able again...i'm going through withdrawal after 2-3 weeks of not driving it.

The delay will be worth it! Can't wait to see the results.

Not to threadjack, but Sara saw a fellow Northville High student getting dropped off in a blue NSX. Was it anyone here on Prime?

Got the car back together w/ new couplers and my now big bored throttle body. Went to start it....nothing. So I've got to figure out now why my starter isn't getting power. Had Bree push me down the driveway and started it. Runs great, and I can definitely tell a difference with the bigger throttle body in the throttle response.....just gotta figure out my starter issue. The car just has it out for me for some reason lately. :frown:

Hey Ryan, I have a spare starter that you can borrow if that will help.....
