Haha. I actually saw that article on MSNBC. Yeah the response from the station folks was pretty much we are the only game in town, pay or have fun pushing your car when you run out of gas.![]()
I got some gas this afternon in San Francisco and paid $3.99.9 a gallon. Then I read on Drudgereport that in Gorda, CA they are charging $5.40 a gallon.![]()
Gorda is on Highway 1 near Big Sur. It's the only station within 40 miles of another. Be great to live there wouldn't it! The article suggested they should change the name of the town to "Gorda Gouge-ya."

The owner of that gas station is going to get lynched the next time he takes the family out for dinner to the Sizzler.
ain't no sizzler near that place for 40 miles.
i've driven past it a few times heading up and down the coast. back in '94, my then-12 year old son an i rode our tandem bike from big sur - santa barbara and stopped @ that place for breakfast... seems like it was an arm and a leg, iirc.
our local station did the story on this that went national and reported that a burger is $15.
woof, almost as much as in the UK or paris, but not quite....
Success is not about where you live, but about how far you've come.
What sucks is that the rest of the country always follows California. We're only at 3.25 gal now.
