Would this video game contest happen to include a Gran Turismo 3???
You know I'll be doing everything I can to make it.

And anyone who asks me to race my bone stock Eclipse against an NSX will be inviting a knuckle sandwich. They will also be bound to a rematch next year once the 1G built motor is complete.

It's the video game of choice of the NSX Club of America!

I also know that Eric is spending extra time practicing as we speak.

Fortunately for you guys, I've been busy playing Timesplitters 2 and Grand Theft: Auto Vice City. In fact, I haven't touched GT3 in a few months.

Of course, I don't think this will make a difference in the final outcome muhahahahaha!

That's fair. I haven't played it since it came out over a year ago. However, be prepared to challenge the AWD fury of the Mitsubishi! I recall that being my best car for times. Or should I say AWD 'Furry' of the Mitsubishi. (inside joke... anyone remember that?)

I didn't know Vice City was out yet. I'll ask you about it at the meet. I may rent a PS2 just to play it.

Now that I know you aren't practicing GT3 day and night, I may just have to pull some cheating bastard tactics.
    1. Rent PS2
    2. Rent GT3
    3. Get in a good 10-20 hours of game time.

I did this to a buddy of mine in Carlsbad with NCAA Football. He was talking smack about kicking my butt with Oregon (he went there) against USC when I come down to visit. So I rented the game a week in advance and played it until I could stomp the computer by 40 points on the hardest setting. Needless to say, in front of all of our friends, Oregon took quite a butt whooping that day in Carlsbad (much like in real life).

The hard part is that Steel Battalion (all $200 worth) comes out on the 19th, so I may be too occupied with that. Have you heard about that game yet? Time to cash in that $173 credit with EB.
Ahhh... the full Battletech experience in the home. Now I can truly rest in peace.

Since I have not had time to play all the way through either Grand Theft Auto III or Vice City, I won't be able to make a fair comparison of the two. That said, I've invested about as much time in each (which isn't much more than a dozen missions) and I'm getting a far bigger kick out of Vice City. Of course, I'm a total sucker for the 80's theme (remember, my favorite music came from the 80's...and the game's soundtrack is a total trip). And I'm having a blast experimenting with the motorcycles.

Needless to say, in front of all of our friends, Oregon took quite a butt whooping that day in Carlsbad (much like in real life).
    FIGHT ON TROJANS!!!!

Is that the X-Box game with the uber-mech-controller? Aside from announcments of their abysmal sales, I have paid very little attention to X-Box.

Hrm... looks like I'm gonna hafta go out to the livingroom and actually utilize the Xbox and Playstation 2 that we've got out there to get some practice time in. =) Haven't played Gran Turismo in the longest time!!! As for the Xbox, I actually like it... well, I liked playing Halo anyhow.

Yeah... that's the mech sim with the huge controller. I loved the battletech Virtual World in Old Town Pasadena until they killed it. I actually kept all my kill lists and stats. There is actually a build it yourself arcade cabinet you can buy in Japan to complete it. No room in my apartment for that. Believe me, if I had the room, I am just about nerdy enough to import one and set it up.

***Aside from announcments of their abysmal sales, I have paid very little attention to X-Box.***

Strange as it may sound, I've enjoyed my XBOX experience more than the PS2 so far. I'm not sure why, but I think it has to do with the amount of games with serious difficulty levels. I can name about 15-20 games so far that I had a blast playing and a good portion were pretty difficult.
None of the systems have really lived up to my expectations thus far since the PC-Engine/CD (as I pet my emulator disk).

I try not to limit myself to a single system. There are so many great games out there for every one including the Cube. I can't imagine not having played through some of the games I have come across for the XBOX or Gamecube. The only real complaint I've had with the new generation systems is the lack of titles dedicated to the enthusiast rather than the masses. Too many easy games and not enough that make someone with even an average intelligence think.
The XBOX seems to attract an older/mature audience and they have been producing more games aimed at enthusiasts. It's been my system of choice the last year or so, but really... I like them all.

I wish I had gotten into the industry at a younger age. Maybe I could have really gone somewhere with my understanding of the industry and experience. too bad. With a family now, I just can't take the financial hit of starting over. I'll just have to settle for playing them all instead.
