Perth, WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Welcome James. Another red one.:mad::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
Tell us more. I service it at honda north, but not very happy with them. So last week I changed the oil, oil filter and air filter my self, with all honda parts. Looking forward to meeting you.
Well guys next meet we have to organize it good so we are all able to attend.

Woon how are you going? Give us a call or come past for a drink some time, when you are back in town.

Helloooooooooooooo.
How is everyone?

I used to use Honda north too but was pretty disappointed with the fact that they charge a fortune and don't seem to do anything. My little toy needs a new ABS compressor and a new stereo(!! - who knew those Bose things could just up and die?). Ideally I'd also like the tracker unit removed that I had fitted in the UK - it's no use to me here and it drains the battery.

Honda North wanted over $5k just for the compressor unit and then labour to fit it on top . That seems a bit steep to me. I've been hoping to find somebody in town who knows their way around an NSX properly who would be more reasonably priced and probably do a better job too. I'll let you all know if I find one.

My NSX is currently entriely original parts but I have been toying with the idea of upping the power a bit and maybe fitting an extinguisher and some race tyres and taking it on track days. I'd want to get a competent engineer to check the engine over first of course, which brings me back again to the problem of finding one.

Incidentally, I have the full NSX service manual in PDF form if anyone is interested.

Cheers all

James

Welcome aboard James. I look forward to meeting you one day, especially if you come up to the race track for a spin

Hi Sam, it has been quite lately. I've been busy working on the house, almost there!

Almost time we started planning our next drive day, isn't it??

Hi James,

Sounds like u got the same issue as Sam and I with Honda North. The only reason that i get my car service there is because I want to Have a full
"honda" service history, this hopefully holds the value of my car if I ever need to sell it in the future otherwise i would not take it there.

Apparently they are the only honda company in WA that deals with NSX right?? im not sure.

Anyway, im very interested in that work shop manual for NSX. Please send me a copy [email protected]

Thanks heaps that would be very helpful:smile:

Hi

I used to use Honda North for the same service history reasons but recently have come to the conclusion that if I ever decide to sell the NSX (which is unlikely), it is the condition of the car that will set the value, not the fact that I trundled it through the same garage every 6 months for the last x years. I think fsh is important in cars around 6 or 7 years old but mine is 18 now at which point the issue becomes how well it has been looked after, not who did it (and it has been well looked after ).

I'm away from my main PC at the moment nam but will email you the manual when I get back into town in about 10 days' time.

Cheers

James

Thanks for the reply james!!

Guys ive got a query... is it posible to run 18" for both rears and fronts. if u have 18/40/225 fronts and 18/45/245 rears (fatter tyres) .... saw it on some guy's NSX on google.

Hay James, I hope it wasnt Honda North that told you that you need a new ABS compressor. Did you get a funny clicking noise?

Nam I dont know what to say. Personally, I would not do it, but thats just me:biggrin:
I think 245 at the back is to small. Show as the picture from google.

Hi Spase, yes a clicking noise which runs for a few minutes when I start the car up and then it gives up and the ABS light comes on on the dash. I've looked carefully at it and it just looks like one of the connections/valves going into the unit that needs fixing. It was indeed Honda North that told me I would have to replace the whole thing. It seemed like overkill to me but they're supposedly the experts. Do you have some good enws for me?

The cheap fix. http://www.danoland.com/nsxgarage/brakes/abs/abs.htm

Thanks Brian but the link you posted seems to be dead. Also I notice on your site that you fix NSX amps. Can I send you one from Australia?

hey Fellow Primers i guess i will be in perth around the Begining of July. So Hopefully We can meet up. Also I was looking for a good place to stay in. What hotels are around there or Weekend Houses and price Range. =) something nice but not to expensive.

In most cases the fix for this is a new accumulator. If the bladder in the accumulator is slit the abs pump cant keep the pressure up so it keeps running. See page 19-68 in the PDF NSX service manual. I have fixed 3 NSX's here in SA with the same problem.

As for Honda dealers supposedly the experts thats far from the truth.

PM me if you require further assistance with this or any performance enhancments as i also track my car. I can also help with track set-up.

Cheers

Hi everyone, and welcome James..
I have been offline for a while, rebuilding a boat. I will head north to Ningaloo now until the end of June, so I will be silent again for another few weeks. I will be up for a drive after that.

Brian K recently fixed the circuit board of my climate control unit. Excellent dealings with him. 100% recommended, especially since the turnaround was only about 2 weeks including post in both directions.

I also want to find an alternative to Honda North. They have an NSX specialist there but they won't let you talk to him. A clear technical question gets a garbled, second-hand answer.

New baby yet, Sam?
Annie

No not yet. She is 3 days overdue. Im sick of waiting:biggrin:

I trust that no news from Sam is good news, just too busy changing nappies to post at the moment

Anyway, it is time to start planning another drive day. It is a real shame we are missing the perfect "driving weather" we're experiencing at the moment.

So let me get the ball rolling.

How about Sunday 19th July for a starting point? Anyone?

Just got home last night with my wife, my daughter and my newborn. HE was10 days overdue:mad::biggrin: ITS A BOY. YYYEEEESSSS. ALEXANDAR. weight 3.87kg, and 55cm long. BIG boy. They are all good.

I will get back to you about the date, just want to make sure we have no function at the restaurant on that day.

SAM

Congrats Sammy!!! a boy is perfect as u already have a girl:smile:

Anyways is it possible to make the driving date a saturday morning? 18th/july wud be good for me. but if 19th then 19th its is!

Hi Sam
Congratulations on the new arrival. After 10 days overdue, it must be a huge relief for both you and your wife.

I must apologise for not being able to make the next outing as I am currently away and will only return to Perth on 24/06. Shall look forward to the following gathering. Hopefully, I will be around.

Woon
